vivo X Fold Plus launched in China: vivo has launched the vivo X Fold Plus in China today and it packs some new features. The number of original vivo X Fold units sold by the company has the company eyeing the foldable market. And to compete with the likes of Samsung and Xiaomi, vivo has brought some new improvements to meet the competition in the market.
The vivo X Fold+ still features an 8.03-inches OLED display. The display is an LTPO panel that has support for a 120Hz refresh rate (can auto refresh between 10Hz and 120Hz). The inner display featured the Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) while the outer 6.56-inches OLED display is protected by a Gorilla Glass Victus.

The device also has a new hinge mechanism that allows it to be stable in multiple locations. The speaker grill, microphone, and USB type-C port are located data at the bottom of the frame while the power button and volume buttons are located on the right side of the frame. It comes with a 50MP main camera, an 8MP periscope lens, a 12MP telephoto lens, and a 48MP ultra-wide lens. The inner wider screen has a 16MP camera and the outer screen also has another 16MP front camera.

The performance of the vivo X Fold+ is fueled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. This is the same chipset used in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Xiaomi Mix Fold 2. According to vivo, the CPU and GPU of the chipset used in the vivo X Fold+ are 30% and 10% faster and better than the chipset used in the original vivo X Fold.
This chipset is a 5G chipset and the vivo X Fold+ has dual SIM card support and both SIM cards can use 5G connectivity. It comes in 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB f storage without space for storage expansion via a microSD card slot. The device has an under-display fingerprint scanner on the inner and outer display.

This means the new vivo X Fold+ is expected to bring significant improvements in performance and gaming experience. The chipset used in the new foldable phone is also built on a 4nm process and this means it’s more power efficient. Aside from the new chipset, the vivo X Fold Plus now also features a bigger battery.
The new foldable smartphone has a 4730mAh battery which is bigger than the 4600mAh inside the previous vivo foldable phone. The phone also has support for 80W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging.

On the software front, vivo X Fold+ boots Origin OS Ocean based on Android 12 out of the box but the company has worked to improve its software experience. It can now perform more multitasking work and the user interface is now more smooth. The vivo X Fold Plus now also comes in a brand new RED color which looks really cool. The device comes in three colors namely: Blue, Grey, and Red.

The 12GB + 256GB storage model of the vivo X Fold+ is sold for CNY9999 in China (about $1400) while the 12GB + 512GB model is sold for CNY10999 (about $1550).
