vivo X90 Pro Plus

For those who don’t know, the vivo X90 Pro Plus is a premium phone from vivo. It is the successor to the premium vivo X80 Pro released by the company last year. The vivo X90 Pro+ features a new Snapdragon chipset, a quad rear camera setup, an impressive display, and many more. To know more about this phone, let’s break down the key specifications of this device starting with the chipset, CPU, and GPU.

Chipset, CPU, and GPU

The vivo X90 Pro+ features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 5G chipset. This 5G chipset is built on the second generation 4nm process technology and features an Octa-core processor. The chipset has an Octa-core CPU with a maximum speed clocked at 3.2GHz. The CPU cores are made of one Cortex-X3 (performance core), two Cortex-A715 (prime cores), two Cortex-A710 (prime cores), and three Cortex-A510 (efficiency cores).

The CPU cores in the vivo X90 Pro+ are paired with a powerful Adreno 740 GPU. Aside from the impressive CPU cores and power GPU, the chipsets in this phone also feature a new ISP (image processing signal) and a better AI engine. This phone can encode and decode videos in 8K resolution, play graphics-intensive games, and supports NFC, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, etc.

Cameras

vivo X90 Pro+ features a quad rear camera system and a single front camera. On the rear, it has a 50.3MP Sony IMX989 sensor as its primary camera. The primary camera is supported by a 64MP periscope lens that can do 5x optical zoom, a 50MP telephoto lens with gimbal OIS stabilization, and a 48MP ultra-wide lens that also doubles as a macro lens. Upfront it has a 32MP wide-angle camera that can record steady videos in 4K resolution.

The 50.3MP primary camera is a 1-inch sensor camera and can take good photos. The rear cameras can also record videos in 8k resolution and all come with stabilization features except that ultra-wide lens that only has AutoFocus feature. The primary camera has features such as Laser AutoFocus and OIS, the periscope lens has OIS and can do 5x optical zoom, while the 64MP telephoto lens has gimbal OIS and can do 2x optical zoom.

Some camera features available in this phone include Zeiss optics, Zeiss T* lens coating, Pixel Shift, dual-LED dual-tone flash, HDR, panorama, portrait mode, night mode, laser AutoFocus, 8K video recording, 4K@30/60fps video recording, gyro-EIS, etc.

Display, Design, and Durability

The vivo X90 Pro+ has a 6.78-inch curved OLED display. The display panel uses LTPO3 technology and its resolution is 1440 x 3200 pixels. The display supports a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and a peak brightness of 1750 nits. The phone is made of Glass front (Schott Xensation Up), glass back or ceramic back or eco-leather back, and aluminum frame.

As per the design, the front screen is curved on both sides and has a center punch hole on the top screen. On the rear, it has a camera module where the three rear camera sensors are placed. The volume rocker and power button are on the right side of the frame of the phone. Its microphone, stereo speaker grill, and USB Type-C charging port are on the bottom of the frame.

A second speaker and microphone are on the top side of the frame. It supports Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by), stereo speakers, and 32-bit/192kHz audio. But there is no microSD card slot and no 3.5mm headphone jack port.

RAM, Storage, and Battery

The vivo X90 Pro+ comes in three storage configurations. It has 8GB + 256GB, 12GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 512GB storage versions. There is no microSD card slot for users to expand storage but users can always make use of cloud storage services when storage is full.

A 4,700mAh battery powers the phone and it has support for 80W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging. It’ll take about 33 minutes to charge the battery from 0 to 100% using the wired charger. The phone also supports reverse-wired charging.

Software and Other Features

The vivo X90 Pro+ boots Origin OS Ocean based on Android 13 out of the box. This phone is expected to get about five years of software updates. You can download and install apps from the Google Play Store on this phone and even download major updates over OTA.

The vivo X90 Pro Plus Price is about $1199 for the model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. While the model with 12GB + 512GB storage is expected to be sold for $1299. This phone will be available in Black, Blue, and Orange colors.

The vivo X90 Pro Plus price in Canada starts at about CA$1666 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage option while the models with 12GB + 512GB sell for about CA$1800.
