You might have already know how to link your WhatsApp to another device. But, if you don’t already know don’t we worry we’ll leave a step below for you. Today, WhatsApp is bringing an even better feature to allow you link more than one device.
The new WhatsApp feature is expected to be able to let users access their WhatsApp messenger app from multiple devices. The linked devices will still be able to access the WhatsApp even with the main phone offline.
Simply put, after linking the devices, your primary phone don’t need to be online for the other devices to be able to access your WhatsApp messages. Cool right?
This feature though still in beta phase is available for both Android and iOS users. And you can connect to at most four different devices at once.
To enable this feature, go to “Linked Devices” section of WhatsApp. You can find it by pressing the three dots icon at the top right corner of the application. When enabling this feature on your smartphone, you need to opt into the feature – labeled as still in “Beta” (if it’s available).
Once you’ve enabled it, you’ll be unlinked from all devices before re-linking to a new device. Below are the steps to enable this new feature without internet in a smartphone.
How to enable WhatsApp on other devices without phone online
- Just open the WhatsApp App and tap on the three-dotted icon, which is located on the top right corner of the screen.
- Tap “Linked Devices” and then select “Link a Device”. The app will then prompt you to scan a QR Code from web.whatsapp.com.
- You may need to select a “Join Multi-Device Beta” in case it shows up for you, as the feature is still in the beta stage.
- Then scan the QR code from the WhatsApp app and you are good to go.
All linked devices can receive and send messages for 14 days even after the main phone is offline. In a situation where you lost your phone or your battery is down, you can quickly and easily use the linked devices to access your WhatsApp. But note that after 14 days, you’ll have to reconnect the main phone to the other devices to continue using this feature.
In the iOS version of the app, you will not be able to delete messages or conversation threads from a linked device. You also cannot link a secondary smartphone or a tablet to the primary device. You can only link your primary smartphone to the laptop. We hope that WhatsApp pushes all the remaining pending features and stable status of it in the coming days.
WhatsApp is constantly working to improve the quality of its App. While this feature is good but it can also be used to spy on you. For example, someone can have access to your device and get remote access to your WhatsApp chats for 14 days.
So, you just have to be careful who have access to your WhatsApp and frequently check for linked devices. If you spot an unknown link device, then you should unlink such device.
