Xiaomi has announced three new smartphones to its flagship category. The Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro share some key features even though the Pro model is more sophisticated overall. Both phones are powered by the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 5G chipset with 1/1.28” sensors in their main cameras.
Xiaomi 12S has a compact 6.28-inch AMOLED curved display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. While the 12S Pro model brings a 6.73” FHD+ LTPO AMOLED curved display. Both devices have a single punch-hole cutout in the middle that homes the 32MP selfie camera.
Additionally, sitting at the helm of the Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, paired with 8/12GB RAM and 128/256 or 512 GB storage. While the software front is covered by MIUI 13 on top of Android 12. The Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro come in Gray, White, Purple, and Green colors.
Camera-wise, the Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro feature 1/1.28” sensors in their main cameras. However, the secondary cameras differ. The Xiaomi 12S Pro has a supported 50MP telephoto with a 50mm lens (2x optical magnification), and a 50MP 14mm ultrawide lens (115° FoV). While the non-pro 12S gets a 13MP ultra-wide and a 5MP telemacro lens.
Another key difference between these two smartphones is the battery capacity and charging speeds. The Xiaomi 12S Pro gets a larger 4,600 mAh cell with 120W wired and 50W wireless charging. While the vanilla 12S packs a smaller 4,500 mAh duel cell with 67W wired and 50W wireless charging.
The Xiaomi 12S Pro price starts at $899 for the 8/128GB model and goes up to $999 for the 256GB model. While the Xiaomi 12S price starts at $699 for the 8/128GB memory.
