The Xiaomi 12S is a budget flagship smartphone from Xiaomi. This phone has the same design as the Xiaomi 12 Pro but features a more powerful chipset. Even though it retains the same design as the previous Xiaomi 12, it has a better performance compared to the Xiaomi 12.

The Xiaomi 12S features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is a 5G chipset that is built on TSMC 4nm process node. It features an Octa-core CPU with a speed clocked at 3.19GHz paired with the Adreno 730 GPU.
This chipset has a peak download speed above 10Gbps and a peak upload speed above 5Gbps. It has support for the latest Bluetooth version, UFS 3.1 storage tech, LPDDR5X RAM tech, and NFC connectivity. Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is also a very power-efficient chipset and is one of the fastest chipsets in the market.
With this chipset on board the Xiaomi 12S, you can play graphics-intensive games at the highest resolution without experiencing any lags. The phone does not also get very HOT because the chipset is well optimized and Xiaomi 12S features a good Vapour Chamber cooling system.

Cameras
On paper, the camera setup and features of the Xiaomi 12S are impressive. It has a 50MP primary camera that has PDAF and OIS features. The main camera is supported by a 13MP ultra-wide lens, a 5MP telephoto macro lens with AF feature, and a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies.
The front camera can shoot videos in 1080p resolution while the 50MP back camera can shoot steady videos in 8K and 4K resolution. Some of the camera features are the Leica lens, Dual-LED dual-tone flash, HDR, panorama, gyro-IES, and OIS.

Display, Design, and Build
The display size of the Xiaomi 12S is 6.28-inch and it has an AMOLED panel, supports a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+. On the front, the screen is slightly curved on both sides and the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The display resolution is 1080 x 2400 pixels and has 419 PPI density which is pretty colorful.
The build materials for this phone are a Glass front (Gorilla Glass Victus), a ceramic back or glass back, and an aluminum frame. The rear has a simple camera module that houses the triple rear camera sensors. On the front, it has a punch hole on the top of the screen. Just like the front screen, the back panel is also slightly curved.

Xiaomi 12S has three RAM and storage configurations. It has 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 256GB storage, and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. This device has no space for storage expansion via a microSD card slot and 3.5mm headphone jack.
Xiaomi 12S is powered by a 4,500mAh battery with support for a 67W wired fast charge and a 50W wireless charge. Other charging features are 10W Reverse wireless charge, Quick Charge 4+, and Power Delivery 3.0.
Software and Sensors
Xiaomi 12S boots MIUI 13 based on Android 12 out of the box. This phone will get at least three years of major software updates and four years of monthly security patches. You can download and install apps from the Google Play Store on this phone and even download major updates over OTA.
