The smartphone industry is always trying new technologies. We’ve seen different phone factors, better display tech and even really fast charging tech. But, it’s about to get a whole lot crazier with the new 200W fact charge tech that Xiaomi and OPPO plans to bring to smartphones.
This is not the first time we’re seen or hearing about a really fast charge tech. For example, Infinix tested a 160W fast charging technology in of its concept smartphones. Xiaomi itself also tested a 200W HyperCharge tech.
However, none of these charging tech have made it into smartphones yet. This is because there are number of safety protocols that is yet to be met. A new report has surfaced suggesting that the 200W fast charge from Xiaomi and OPPO is now ready to be used in phones.
According to popular tipster DigitaChatStation, both Xiaomi and OPPO are currently experimenting a 200W fast charging tech for smartphones. Smartphones from both companies are expected to ship with a 200W fast charge this year. Or maybe, the 200W fast charging adapter will made available by both companies soon.
Remember that Xiaomi showed its 200W fast charge tech in the Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro. The 4,000mAh battery inside that devices was fully charged in under 8 minutes. From the test, it took just 44 seconds for the battery to hit 10% and just 3 minutes to get to 50%.
OPPO had earlier started mass producing the 125W wired fast charging technology. The company is testing this technology with dual-cell batteries. And with the help of battery safety detection chips, OPPO has implemented smart charging technology.
There is no official confirmation from any of the companies with regards to using the 200W fast charge inside a smartphone. But, past reports suggest that Xiaomi might start mass production of this tech by Q2 of 2022.
