Xiaomi has left many of its users disappointed with the rollout of the MIUI 14 updates to the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro+. MIUI India announced on Twitter that owners of the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Pro+ can now update their smartphones to the latest MIUI 14 skin software. But, the company left a crucial part of the news that has left many users disappointed.

After installing the MIUI 14 update on their Redmi Note 12 Pro and Pro+, Xiaomi users discovered that the latest update does not include the Android 13 OS. This means, their smartphones still run Android 12 but the new MIUI 14 update still brings major improvements to both smartphones.
The reason why MIUI 14 based on the Android 12 update for the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Pro+ is disappointing for most Xiaomi users is that Android 13 OS was released back in August 2022. In fact, the Android 14 OS update is already knocking at the door and is expected to be released soon. It would have made complete sense if Xiaomi pushed the MIUI 14 update with the Android 13 OS.
Maybe the company will push the Android 13 OS update separately but that might come when other phones like the Galaxy A54 get upgraded to Android 14. The MIUI 14 for the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Pro+ does bring some changes and optimizations.

MIUI 14 for Redmi Note 12 Pro and Pro+
MIUI 14 update for Redmi Note 12 Pro and Pro+ brings new features. Some of the new features include new widgets, quick app launch, enhanced performance, improved battery life, new Super icons on the home screen, and much more.
It also comes with a Smart ROM Optimization feature that can reduce the cached storage by up to 3GB over the course of three months. According to reports, the MIUI 14 boots up faster thanks to tweaks to the system that has resulted in lesser boot-up memory. The update also reduces RAM occupied by 19 system apps such as camera, messages, clock, and others. Users can now also choose from 6 new wallpapers and new card-style widgets.
The MIUI 14 update is only available for the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Pro+ as the vanilla Redmi Note 12 is not getting the update yet. The MIUI 14 update will first be available to users who enrolled in the Mi Pilot program and gradually it will be made available to everyone.

How to Download and Install MIUI 14 on Redmi Note 12 Pro and Pro+
To download the MIUI 14 update in your Redmi Note 12 and/or Redmi Note 12 Pro+, go to Settings >> About Phone >> MIUI Version. Check for the latest MIUI version and if available, click download to install.
We advise you to have at least 50 percent of battery, enough storage, and connect to a stable Wi-Fi before you proceed to install the MIUI 14 update. The update is expected to roll out gradually and you can keep checking your phone settings till it drops in your device.
