Xiaomi is now gearing up to launch its next flagship smartphone “the Xiaomi Mi 12”. And this might be the first Android smartphone to rock the next Qualcomm flagship “Snapdragon 898” chip.

Qualcomm usually holds its chipset event in December and the race for Android phone makers to be the first using it in their device usually starts immediately. It appears Xiaomi is ahead with the release of the Mi 12 series. Some specifications of the Xiaomi Mi 12 has surfaced along with the possible release date – or time period.

Xiaomi Mi 12 Specifications (Speculations)

It’s very possible that Xiaomi might decide to remove the Mi name from this device and simply call it the Xiaomi 12. The company did this with the Xiaomi Pad 5 and Pad 5 Pro, it also did same thing with the Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro. So this won’t come as a total surprise.

The popular Weibo leakster, DCS made a post pointing fingers at some specification of the Xiaomi Mi 12 series. According to his post on Weibo, there will be three phones in the series; the Xiaomi Mi 12, Mi 12 Pro and Mi 12 Ultra.

He also said that both the normal model and pro model will be powered by a 4,700mAh battery while the Ultra model will have 5,000mAh battery. From his post, Xiaomi is also bringing a 100W fast charging tech for these phones.

The ultra-model will come with dual-core materials and design schemes. This can increase the energy density to a certain extent and make the phone thinner. Having a thin smartphone with 5,000mAh inside is pretty good but we can’t say much about the weight of the phone.

The build quality of the new Xiaomi flagship is expected to be top notch – as always. The front will use a hyperboloid display with an ultra-narrow bezel. Also, the Xiaomi Mi 12 series is expected to have a very attractive ceramic back shell. This build offers a texture, look and feel that glass material does not offer.

When it comes to camera, new reports suggests that the Xiaomi Mi 12 series might come with a 50MP main camera. And this 50MP main camera will adopt an ultra-large bottom solution, supporting 1920fps super slow motion.

Other cameras include; 50MP ultra-wide lens, and 50MP periscope telephoto lens. At the rear, we’re expecting a triple rear camera with 50MP sensors each. The front camera is not disclosed yet.

The operations of the smartphone will be taken care of by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 chip. It will also spot an LTPO adaptive refresh rate screen which will allow the refresh rate to adjust from 1 – 120Hz.

Even with this leaks, there is still allot we don’t know about this device. But we expect the Xiaomi Mi 12 series to be release by December this year after the Qualcomm event.
