The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 becomes the thinnest foldable device yet. Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun has revealed that the Mix Fold 2 will measure only 5.4mm thick when unfolded. And in its foldable state, the device is expected to measure 11.4mm.
Furthermore, when compared to other foldable devices in the industry (vivo X Fold, Galaxy Z Fold 3; OPPO Find N, etc) Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 has the lightest weight. Rumour has it that the Mix Fold 2 will weigh just 202g.

So how was Xiaomi able to achieve this feat? First, the tech company simplified many things which started from the hinge technology to the material used in the production. Lighter yet sophisticated materials were used.
According to Xiaomi, the enhanced materials used made the hinge 35% lighter and decreased the thickness of the device by 25%. The tech company adopted a design called “micro waterdrop”. This hinge design helped Xiaomi to achieve the desired screen with less crease.
Aside from the design, Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 5G chipset. The battery capacity is expected to be 4,500 mAh with up to a 67W fast charge. Around the back are triple rear cameras that for now are unspecified.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 will be thinner and weighs lesser than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. It launches alongside the Xiaomi Buds 4 Pro, Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4, and Redmi K50 Extreme Edition. The launch event will hold in China by 7 PM on August 11, 2022.
