The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 is an affordable mid-range phone from Xiaomi. It is the successor to the Redmi Note 11 released last year and it features the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset, a 48MP primary camera, 33W fast charging, and many more. To know more about the Redmi Note 12, let’s talk about the details of its specifications starting with the chipset, CPU, and GPU.

Chipset, CPU, and GPU

At the helm of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 5G chipset. This 5G chipset is built on TSMC’s 6nm process technology and features an Octa-core processor. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset has an Octa-core CPU with a maximum speed clocked at 2.00GHz. It has two ARM Cortex-A78 power cores with a clock speed of 2.00GHz and ARM Cortex-A55 efficiency cores with a speed of 1.80GHz.

The CPU cores are paired with the Adreno 619 GPU. This chipset is fast and also power efficient because of its fast CPU cores and small fabrication process. The chipset can encode and decode 4K videos and has NFC, LPDDR4 RAM, UFS 2.2 storage, etc.

Cameras

Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 features a dual rear camera and a single front camera. On the rear, it has a 48MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor. While on the front it has an 8MP wide camera. Both the back and front cameras can record steady videos in 1080p resolution. Available camera features for photography and videography in this smartphone include LED flash, HDR, panorama, Night mode, Portrait, OIS, gyro-EIS, etc.

Display, Design, and Durability

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 has a 6.67-inches flat OLED display. The display resolution is FHD+ (1080 x 2400 pixels), supports 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, 240Hz touch sampling, and Dolby Vision, and has a peak brightness of 1200 nits. The front screen is flat but the back panel is slightly curved. The dimension of the Redmi Note 12 is 165.9 x 76.2 x 8 mm (6.53 x 3.00 x 0.31 in) and it weighs about 188 g (6.63 oz).

On the rear, it has a camera module in the top left corner while on the front it has a single punch hole that houses the front camera. Its screen-to-body ratio is 85.0% and it also features a Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by). There is no space for storage expansion via a microSD card slot but there is space for a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The volume rocker and power button of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 are on the right side of the frame of the phone. While its microphone, stereo speaker grill, and USB Type-C charging port are on the bottom of the frame. It also has a second speaker and microphone on the top side of the frame.

RAM, Storage, and Battery

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 comes in four storage options. It comes in 4GB + 128GB, 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB storage. As stated above, there is no space for a microSD card hence users can not expand the storage of this phone via a microSD card when the internal storage is full.

A 5,000mAh battery powers the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 and it has support for 33W wired fast charging. You can charge the battery of this phone using the 33W charger from 0 to 100% in about 65 minutes. But, there is no wireless charging and no reverse wireless charging solution available.

Software and Other Features

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 boots MIUI 13 based on Android 13 out of the box. This phone will get at least three years of significant software updates. You can download and install apps from the Google Play Store on this phone and even download major updates over OTA.
