Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G is getting MIUI 12.5: One of the many things you enjoy as an owner of Xiaomi phone is updates and security patches. Xiaomi is now rolling out the MIUI 12.5 update to the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G in China. In India it’s known as Xiaomi Mi 10i and the in the global market it’s called Mi 10T Lite. The latter has a different camera but similar design and specifications.
The global Redmi Note 9 Pro does have not have 5G connectivity. So, the Chinese Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G is actually different from the global Note 9 Pro. With the above said, you should understand that the MIUI 12.5 mentioned in this article is not meant for the global Redmi Note 9 Pro.

But, if you own the Xiaomi Mi 10i or Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite, then you can expect to receive this update soon.
From the name, this update is the upgrade of the MIUI 12 and just a step below the MIUI 13. This new update however brings some really nice improvements. Amongst this update is drastic reduction in CPU usage to improve the performance of the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G.

This update reduces the power consumption by up to 15%. Gestured are now more responsive because they now have dedicated threads. MIUI 12.5 now also allows users to remove some system applications. There are lots of changes this update is bringing to the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G.
The software version number of the new MIUI 12.5 update for the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G is V12.5.2.0.RJSCNXM. If you live in China and don’t have this update yet, you can manually check the update by going to Settings >> About Phone >> System updates.
