Xiaomi to launch the Redmi K50 series with different chips next year

Words on the street is that Xiaomi is planning to launch the Redmi K50 series by February 2022. And this time, all the devices in the series will be powered by different chips from two companies.

Although there is no official news from the company yet, popular tipster @DCS on Weibo has given us a hint. According to him, the Redmi K50 series might debut by the end of February 2022. This was the same timeframe that the company released the Redmi K40 in 2021.

@DCS also said that there will be four devices in the Redmi K50 series, namely; Redmi K 50, K50 Pro, K50 Pro+, and K50 Gaming.

Features of Redmi K50 series (speculations)

As a premium flagship device, the Redmi K50 Pro+ is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC while the K50 Pro will get the Snapdragon 870.

Xiaomi will then turn to MediaTek for the chip to power the Redmi K50 and K50 Gaming. Both devices might be powered by the Dimensity 7000 and Dimensity 9000 respectively.

All the smartphones in the Redmi K50 series is said to run the MIUI 13 skin software out of the box. Which means it might come with Android 12. And rumor has it that it will feature the in-display fingerprint scanners.

Redmi K40 Pro

The Redmi K50 Pro+ is said to feature a 108MP primary camera alongside a periscope telephoto lens. And the Redmi K50 Gaming might come with 64MP primary camera and pack a 5,000mAh battery.

Some of the devices in the devices in the series will feature 100W fast charge and will be IP68 dust and water resistance certified. From rumors so far, the Redmi K50 series is shaping out to be nice smartphones.
