Axon 40 Ultra vs OnePlus 10 Pro: Display, Build, and Design
The ZTE Axon 40 Ultra comes with a 6.8-inches AMOLED display while the OnePlus 10 Pro comes with a slightly smaller 6.7-inches AMOLED display. The displays of both phones have support for 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. But, the Axon 40 ultra gives you full-screen with its under-display selfie camera while the OnePlus 10 Pro has a punch-hole for the selfie.
The display of the OnePlus 10 Pro is not as bright as that of the Axon 40 Ultra especially out-door or under sunlight but it has better color. The OnePlus 10 Pro has a display resolution of 1440 x 3216 pixels while the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra has a display resolution of 1116 x 2480 pixels. The designs of both phones are also very different.
As earlier mentioned (above), the Axon 40 Ultra gives you access to a full screen but there is a punch-hole on the screen of the OnePlus 10 Pro. On the rear, the designs are also very different. The rear camera modules of both phones are placed and arranged differently. When it comes to photography and videography, both smartphones are really good but one has better stabilization features. The camera combination of the Axon 40 Ultra is 64MP primary camera, 64MP periscope telephoto, 64MP ultra-wide lens, and a 16MP selfie camera. While the camera combination of the OnePlus 10 Pro is a 48MP primary camera, 8MP telephoto lens, 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 32MP selfie camera.
The cameras of both phones can click good photos but the photos from the OnePlus 10 Pro is more colorful. This is probably because of the Hasselblad Color Calibration inside. A close look at photos from these phones shows that there is really not much difference. Even the quality of photos from both phones in lowlight or at night is pretty much the same.
As per videography, these two phones can shoot videos in 8k resolution. However, although the cameras of these phones have stabilization features, the OnePlus 10 Pro has better stabilization. The camera stability features inside the Axon 40 Ultra are OIS and gyro-EIS. But the camera stabilization features inside the OnePlus 10 Pro are multi-directional PDAF, OIS, and gyro-EIS.
Lastly, in the selfie game, the OnePlus 10 Pro is also better. The 32MP front camera of the OnePlus 10 Pro takes better selfies than the 16MP under-display camera of the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra.

Truth is, both smartphones have premium performance. Using the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra and OnePlus 10 Pro, you can play graphics-intensive games in the highest settings available in a smartphone without issues. But, the performance of the OnePlus 10 Pro appears to be more consistent compared to the Axon 40 Ultra.

From the test results above, you can see that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset has better performance in the OnePlus 10 Pro. This might be because OnePlus has a better or more efficient way of cooling the chipset to have it perform better for a longer time.
ZTE Axon 40 Ultra and OnePlus 10 Pro has a minimum of 8GB of RAM. The minimum storage of the Axon 40 Ultra is 256GB while that of the OnePlus 10 Pro is 128GB. The maximum internal storage of the OnePlus 10 Pro is 512GB while the Axon 40 Ultra goes all the way up to 1TB. None of these phones have space for storage expansion via a microSD card slot.

While the full-screen of the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra is really impressive, it falls behind in other key areas. The OnePlus 10 Pro offers a more colorful display, a better camera combo, a better performance, a better-charging feature, and it’s currently cheaper (thanks to the discount price).
The only reason to buy the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra ahead of the OnePlus 10 Pro will be the under-display camera tech and a full-screen experience. This aside, the OnePlus 10 Pro is the better phone and also offers a better deal now.
So, if I’m to score both smartphones, I’ll score the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra (48%) and the OnePlus 10 Pro (52%). The OnePlus 10 Pro offers more features and is currently cheaper.
