Display, Build, and Design
The Axon 40 Ultra and Galaxy S22 Ultra come with a 6.8-inch display, AMOLED panel, 120Hz refresh rate, and support for HDR10+. Both phones also feature Gorilla Glass protection and have a good back finish. But, there are noticeable differences in the design of both phones.
First, the Galaxy S22 Ultra has its punch-hole on the central screen while there is no punch-hole on the screen of the Axon 40 Ultra. Another difference in the design is the rear camera model. On the rear, there is no big camera module for the Galaxy S22 Ultra as the camera sensors protrude from the back panel. While the Axon 40 Ultra has a camera bump that houses triple rear camera sensors. So, when you see both phones from afar, it’s very easy to differentiate between them from their designs.
The build materials on both smartphones are durable but the Galaxy S22 Ultra is certified to have IP68 water and dust resistance. The Axon 40 Ultra is not certified to have that level of water and dust protection. Overall, the screen of the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra looks neat and has smaller bezels compared to the Galaxy S22 Ultra. So far from our own experiment, 80% of users like the full screen and display of the Axon 40 Ultra.

The main camera is supported by a 10MP periscope lens with dual-pixel PDAF, OIS, and 10x optical zoom. Then there is another 10MP telephoto lens capable of 3x optical zoom and a 12MP ultra-wide camera that can shoot Super Steady video. Upfront it has a 40MP main camera that can shoot videos in 4k resolution.
When it comes to the camera, the Galaxy S22 Ultra gives you more camera options. But, the Axon Z40 Ultra is really good as all its 64MP cameras can shoot videos in 8k resolution. And the quality of photos and videos from the 16MP camera under-the screen is really good.
