ZTE Axon 40 Ultra announced with UD Selfie, and triple 64MP cameras

The ZTE Axon 40 Ultra has arrived with an under-display selfie camera. ZTE is the pioneer of the under-display selfie camera tech and it’s currently on its third generation. The smartphone is currently available for pre-order in China.

ZTE Axon 40 Ultra features a 6.8-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The panel is 10-bit with 100% DCI-P3 coverage, it is also quite bright with a peak of 1,500 nits.

The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 5G chip, paired with 8 GB of RAM, but you can also get 12 GB and even 16 GB. That last one is exclusive to the version with 1 TB of storage. So you have 8GB, 12GB and 16 GB RAM + 256 – 1 TB storage models. The smartphone will be available in three colors which are: Black, Gold, and Silver.

In the camera department, the device features a triple 64MP camera. Which consists of a 64MP OIS main camera, a 64MP OIS periscope telephoto, and a 64MP ultrawide. While upfront is a 16MP under-display selfie.

Additionally, the smartphone boots MyOS 12 skin software based on Android 12 out of the box with a 5,000 mAh battery capacity that supports 80W fast charging over USB-C. The Axon 40 Ultra is currently available for pre-booking in China. Official sales will commence on May 13, 2022.

ZTE Axon 40 Pro

Accompanying the flagship ZTE Axon 40 Ultra is the Axon 40 Pro. It is a premium mid-range device that is powered by Snapdragon 870 5G chipset. The smartphone comes with a 6.67” FHD+ Super AMOLED curved display with a 144Hz refresh rate support.

ZTE Axon 40 Pro boots Android 12 out of the box and the SD 870 chip is paired with 8/12 GB of RAM and 256/512 GB of storage. Like with the Ultra, storage is not expandable. The smartphone is available in three colors Black, Gold, and Blue.

The Axon 40 Pro also has a different mixture for its camera. The main shooter is a 100 MP module with a 1/1.52” sensor and an f/1.9 aperture. Alongside an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle module (120°), a macro camera (4 cm), and a depth sensor. The battery is the same size at 5,000 mAh, though it drops to 66W fast charging unlike the Ultra with 80W.
