These two CPUs were announced on August 29th, 2022. The Ryzen 9 7950X is priced at $699, while the Ryzen 9 7900X is priced at $549. That’s about a $150 price difference between these two processors.

Socket Compatibility

You can’t use your old AM4 socket for any of the Ryzen 7000 series. It won’t be compatible. Thus, anyone who is buying either the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X or Ryzen 9 7900X will spend more money. You must upgrade your motherboard to AM5 socket and memory to DDR5 before you can make use of any of the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X vs Ryzen 9 7900X.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X is superior to the Ryzen 9 7900X in many ways. The Ryzen 9 7950X has higher cores and threads count than the Ryzen 7900X- which translates to a much better multi-threaded performance in favor of the Ryzen 9 7950X.
