Germany could ban Huawei’s 5G components or may impose restrictions on Chinese 5G equipment used by carriers. According to a German official, places like Berlin which houses the federal government of Germany should not have any Chinese tech used in its mobile networks.

While the limitations are yet to be imposed, however, a legislative draft already suggests the limitations of Chinese 5G RAN equipment in the core part of their networks by October 1, 2026. And this could mean either 25% restrictions or a total ban.

As of the time of writing this post, it is estimated that about 59% of Germany’s 5G Radio Access Networks (RANs) use Huawei components. Local carriers like Deutsche Telekom and Vodafone are making use of Huawei’s 5G Technology.
