Samsung has been the only major player in the US and Canada when it comes to foldable phones. Well, it seems that narrative is about to change as Motorola is trying to creep into that space with its new Motorola Razr Foldable phone. This is something Vivo and OPPO are yet to do even with the impressive Vivo X Fold 2 and OPPO Find N2 foldable phones.

Motorola has released two clamshell foldable phones in the previous years but the company has not marketed these phones on the US or Canada (at least not that much). However, the company tweeted in its global account that it’s launching a new Razr Foldable phone.

The Motorola Razr+ is expected to feature a 6.7-inch P-OLED display with a 1080 x 2640 (FHD+) resolution, and a 144Hz refresh rate. The outer or cover display is said to be 3.5 inches (with a 1056 x 1066 resolution). The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 will be under the hood and the device will come with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage but we could see a variant equipped with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

On the rear, it’s expected to have a dual rear camera system. It might feature a 12MP primary camera (using the Sony IMX563 image sensor) and a 13MP ultra-wide lens (using SK Hynix’s Hi1336 sensor). The 32MP front-facing selfie camera on the phone’s internal screen will feature the OmniVision OV32B40 sensor.

The Motorola Razr+ will boot Android 13 out of the box and will get at least two years of software updates. It’ll pack a 3,640mAh battery that supports 33W charging which is about 4% bigger than the 3500mAh battery used on last year’s Razr (2022).

Motorola Razr+ Price

The price of the Motorola Razr+ in the US is expected to start from $999.99 for the base model with 256GB storage. It’s expected to be available in Black, Blue, and Red colours.

Motorola is also getting ready to launch a midrange clamshell foldable phone called the Motorola Razr 40. The Razr 40 will have less impressive specs and smaller cover screen but will be cheaper. We expect to see more details on these phones in the coming weeks.

If the pricing and specs are right, the Motorola Razr+ could cause serious sales upset for the Galaxy Z Flip foldable phones in the US. This might move other companies like OPPO and Vivo to also release their foldable phones in the US and Canada.
