OnePlus begins Android 12 closed beta test for OnePlus 8 series

OnePlus is recruiting users to test Android 12 based OxygenOS 12 for the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 pro, and OnePlus 8T. This is a close beta test. There will also be an open beta test before the stable update is rolled out for the public.

To be part of this Closed Beta Test (CBT), testers are required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and will voluntarily flash builds that require a clean flash, which wipes the entire data. This means, it’s not advisable to install the beta firmware on your OnePlus 8 phone if it’s your primary device.

Beta builds also comes with bugs that makes user experience quite messy. But if you have any of the OnePlus 8 phone laying around, you can try to join the CBT program.

For those interested in joining the CBT, you’ll need to meet the following requirements to be eligible:

  • You are using a OnePlus 8 series or OnePlus 8T device
  • You are an active OnePlus Community member
  • You are willing to regularly communicate and provide feedback to the OnePlus team on Telegram
  • The CBT version is not the official version, which is still in developing and testing. After updating to CBT version, please be patient and tolerate its instability and accept all risks which might be caused by it

So you can expect OnePlus to announce an Open Beta program for the 8, 8 Pro, and 8T soon. And if everything goes well, OnePlus 8 users might get the Android 12 update by 2022.
