The Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4 specs have surfaced with some intriguing features. It will power windows laptops and tablets later this year or early in 2024. According to Kuba Wojciechowski, the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4 will feature 12 cores. Which is composed of 8 performance (@3.4GHz) and 4 efficiencies (@2.5GHz) cores.

Moreover, the CPU design will use the market name “Oryon” instead of “Kryo” used on smartphone chipsets. The chipset will have 12MB of shared L2 cache for each block of 4 cores, plus 8MB of L3 cache, 12MB of system-level cache, and an extra 4MB for graphics.

As for the GPU, the chipset will feature Adreno 740 built-in, the same GPU as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for 2023 flagship smartphones. However, the difference is that the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4 will support an external GPU with up to 8 lanes of PCIe 4.0.

The chip will support 2x USB 3 10Gbps ports, 3 x USB 4 (Thunderbolt 4) ports, and 1 x DisplayPort 1.4a. Also, the chipset will support video decoding up to 4K/120fps and encoding up to 4K/60fps in different codecs, including AV1.
