A new report has surfaced that only the iPhone 14 Pro models will feature 120Hz refresh rate. The new report is coming from a display analyst known as Ross Young. In one of his recent tweet, Young suggested that Apple would not want to risk it till 2023 maybe with the iPhone 15 series.

Apple’s ProMotion display technology was first seen on the ‌iPhone 13 Pro‌ and ‌iPhone 13 Pro‌ Max in September 2021. ProMotion allows the display to automatically refresh between 10Hz – 120Hz depending on the type of content on the screen. This helps to save battery life when the iPhone is not in need of the higher 120Hz.

According to the display analyst, the primary reason why Apple could feature 120Hz refresh rate only on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max is because of display shortage. In his tweet, Young suggests that Chinese manufacturer BOE does not have enough LTPO OLED panel to supply Apple right now.

Which means BOE could supply LTPO OLED displays for lower-end ‌iPhone 14‌ models, while Samsung be the supplier of LTPO OLED displays for ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ models. In the past on many occasions, Ross young has given accurate leaks about Apple’s future products. So let’s hope this is coming out right as well.
