Apple A15 bionic vs Snapdragon 888+: for those who are upgrading from the iPhone 12 series to iPhone 13 Pro or 13 Pro Max, one key reason for the upgrade is the A15 bionic chip from Apple. So it is an obvious fact that the A15 bionic chip is better than the A14 bionic chipset of last year.
But how good is the A15 bionic chipset when compared to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ chip? Let’s find out via this comparison.
When it comes to built process, the A15 bionic chip and Snapdragon 888+ chipsets are built on the 5 nanometer process, however, the A15 is more improved because of the latest N5P process used by TSMC. And the effect is the power efficiency and faster performance.

Both chipsets are using the latest Qualcomm’s X60 5G modem with 7.5 Gbps top download speed and 3 Gbps upload speed.
Apple A15 bionic vs Snapdragon 888+: CPU and GPU
Apple made a huge claim at its launch event that the new 6-core CPU in the A15 chip is about 50% faster than the competition. That is not entirely true. Although the A15 bionic is faster but not upto 50% that Apple claims.
While Apple maintained the hexa-core 2+4 CPU architecture, Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ adopted the octa-core 1+3+4 CPU setup. Qualcomm upgraded the Snapdragon 888+ primary CPU core from 2.84 GHz to 2.995 GHz.
And when it comes to GPU, Apple also made bold claims that the A15 processor has a 30% faster graphics processing unit (GPU) than the competition (Snapdragon, MediaTek, Tensor and Exynos). While in reality, the Adreno 660 GPU by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ can perform every task that the latest Apple 5-core GPU does.
Apple A15 bionic vs Snapdragon 888+: AI & ML
Moreover, the Apple A15 Bionic chipset have a neural engine that can process 15.8 trillion operations per second.
While Snapdragon 888+ with Hexagon 780 AI (Artificial Intelligence) processor delivers up to 32TOPS (Tera Operations Per Second). Thus when it comes to AI and ML (virtual assistant), Google Assistant is ahead of Apple’s Siri.

Apple A15 bionic vs Snapdragon 888+: Benchmark
Benchmark | Apple A15 bionic | Snapdragon 888+ |
Antutu CPU Scores | 214,698 | 218,734 |
Antutu GPU Scores | 324,552 | 326,250 |
Geekbench Multi Core Scores | 4,818 | 3,686 |
Geekbench Single Core Scores | 1,734 | 1,138 |
Incredibly disingenuous comparison, as AnTuTu is not comparable across Android and iOS. Article text is heavily biased in favor of Snapdragon when any real-world performance results show A15 Bionic to be 1-2 years ahead of Qualcomm’s finest.
How is the article biased? Can’t you see from the benchmark table that the Apple chip completely dominated the Qualcomm chip?
