Google Pixel 7 new features: The Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are the successors of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. This means the Pixel 7 phones have some new features that are not available in the Pixel 6 Phones. Well, according to a report from PhoneArena, of the seven Google Pixel 7 new features, Google will be bringing five to the Pixel 6 phones.
Although these features won’t improve the CPU and GPU of the Pixel 6 phones, they will surely add some new interesting ways that pixel 6 phone users to interact and use their smartphones. So, without much ado, here are the five Google Pixel 7 new features coming to the Pixel 6 phones and the two features that are exclusive to the Pixel 7 phones.
Five Google Pixel 7 new features coming to Pixel 6 Phones
One of the highlights of Google in the Google Pixel event of 2022 was inclusivity and the Guided Frame is one of the most important features of the event. Guided Frame is a feature that helps blind people or people with poor eyesight to take better selfie photos. The Guided Frame is a voice prompt in the camera app of the Pixel 7 phone that guided users to place and pose in real time to take better selfie photos. This feature will be available in all Pixel 6 phones later this year.
Audio Message Transcription
The At a Glance feature on the Pixel 7 phones allows the phone to convert all the audio messages into text using just one click. This new feature will be available in older Pixel phones including the Google Pixel 4a. These older Google Pixel phones will also get the new ‘At a Glance widget update, which will show more information than ever before.
Enhanced Real Tone
The Enhanced Real Tone is a feature that helps the Google Camera app on Pixel phones to take more natural and accurate skin tone photos. This feature first debuted in the Google Pixel 6a and Google expanded it to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. However, the company has updated the Enhanced Real Tone algorithm in the Pixel 7 Pro, and can now work better even in low light conditions.
Although the new algorithm update is only available in the Pixel 7 phones, the new report hints that the feature will be available in Pixel 6 phones later this year via a software update. According to the report, the feature “will be integrated with Night Sight and Portrait mode.”
Clear Calling is a feature announced by Google in the Pixel launch that reduces the background noise when making calls or recording an audio message. This way, the person on the other end of the call is not bothered by distorted sounds and this improves the calling experience. The Clear calling feature was not available when the Pixel 7 was launched.
Google said it will be available in December of 2022 via a Feature Drop update. The Pixel 6 phones are expected to also get the Feature Drop update and have this feature enabled. Additionally, by December, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will also get a software update that will allow users to say “silent” to silence a call and “stop/snooze” to pause or stop an alarm.
Spatial Audio for Pixel Buds Pro
The Pixel Buds Pro was announced by Google earlier this year with the promise that the premium earbuds would gain the Spatial Audio feature through a software update. The new report from PhoneArena has confirmed that the Pixel 7 phones and Pixel 6 phones will be getting this update via a feature drop later this year.
Two Exclusive Google Pixel 7 new features
Google Pixel 7 phones have a new SuperRes Zoom feature, which makes use of the new camera sensors, ISP of the Tensor G2 chipset, and new machine learning autofocus algorithms. With this new feature, users can capture clear images from 0.5x zoom up to 30x zoom. This is the highest zoom magnification ever offered on a Pixel device yet. And although the camera sensors of the Pixel 7 phones and Pixel 6 phones are basically the same, the new SuperRes Zoom feature won’t be available in the Pixel 6 phones.
Face Unlock is another Google Pixel 7 new feature that will not make its way to Pixel 6 phones. Although there have been rumors that Google is working on Face Unlock for the Pixel 6 phones, the ABC company has confirmed that the feature is exclusive to the Pixel 7 phones.
We think the reason why the last two features won’t make it to Pixel 6 phones is because of the changes in hardware. It seems the Pixel 6 phones do not have the proper hardware to enable SuperRes Zoom and Face Unlock. While the other 5 features are software based. Hence the Pixel 6 phones are expected to get those features with the December 2022 Feature Drop update.
