Enhanced Real Tone

The Enhanced Real Tone is a feature that helps the Google Camera app on Pixel phones to take more natural and accurate skin tone photos. This feature first debuted in the Google Pixel 6a and Google expanded it to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. However, the company has updated the Enhanced Real Tone algorithm in the Pixel 7 Pro, and can now work better even in low light conditions.

Although the new algorithm update is only available in the Pixel 7 phones, the new report hints that the feature will be available in Pixel 6 phones later this year via a software update. According to the report, the feature “will be integrated with Night Sight and Portrait mode.”

Clear Calling

Clear Calling is a feature announced by Google in the Pixel launch that reduces the background noise when making calls or recording an audio message. This way, the person on the other end of the call is not bothered by distorted sounds and this improves the calling experience. The Clear calling feature was not available when the Pixel 7 was launched.

Google said it will be available in December of 2022 via a Feature Drop update. The Pixel 6 phones are expected to also get the Feature Drop update and have this feature enabled. Additionally, by December, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will also get a software update that will allow users to say “silent” to silence a call and “stop/snooze” to pause or stop an alarm.

Two Exclusive Google Pixel 7 new features

SuperRes Zoom

Google Pixel 7 Pro camera

Google Pixel 7 phones have a new SuperRes Zoom feature, which makes use of the new camera sensors, ISP of the Tensor G2 chipset, and new machine learning autofocus algorithms. With this new feature, users can capture clear images from 0.5x zoom up to 30x zoom. This is the highest zoom magnification ever offered on a Pixel device yet. Face Unlock

Pixel 7 features to Google Pixel 6 Phones

Face Unlock is another Google Pixel 7 new feature that will not make its way to Pixel 6 phones. Although there have been rumors that Google is working on Face Unlock for the Pixel 6 phones, the ABC company has confirmed that the feature is exclusive to the Pixel 7 phones.

We think the reason why the last two features won’t make it to Pixel 6 phones is because of the changes in hardware. It seems the Pixel 6 phones do not have the proper hardware to enable SuperRes Zoom and Face Unlock. While the other 5 features are software based. Hence the Pixel 6 phones are expected to get those features with the December 2022 Feature Drop update.
