Honor 80 Pro vs OPPO Reno 9 Pro Plus: OPPO recently announced the Reno 9 Series and the top model was powered by a flagship chipset-Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The same chipset was used by Honor to power the Honor 80 Pro. So which one is better and offers the most value out of these two? Let’s find out.

Prices | Availability

The OPPO Reno 9 Pro+ is more expensive with a starting price of $699 for the 16GB RAM and 256GB storage model. While the Honor 80 Pro has a starting price of $600 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. Display | Design

These two smartphones have the same display features. Both come with a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED touchscreen with Curved edges, 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ certification, and can show up to 1B colors. And for security, both smartphones come with an in-display fingerprint scanner for biometric verification. However, their designs are different. The OPPO Reno 9 Pro+ has a cutout hole for the selfie camera, while the Honor 80 Pro has a pill shape cutout placed in the middle of the display for selfie cameras.

Camera

The OPPO Reno 9 Pro+ takes the gold medal for the main camera setup. It features a 50MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 32MP selfie camera. While the Honor 80 Pro has a 160MP main camera but lacks an OIS, the primary cam is supported by a 50MP ultrawide, a 2MP depth sensor, and 50MP + 2MP dual Selfie cameras. The Honor 80 Pro has a better ultrawide lens with Autofocus and the selfie camera is better too. However, the lack of OIS made it fall below the Reno 9 Pro+ in key areas- the main camera to be particular.

Honor 80 Pro vs OPPO Reno 9 Pro Plus: Performance | Software

The performance experience is the same. Both smartphones are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. However, when it comes to memory options, the Reno 9 Pro+ is superior. OPPO paired the chip with 16GB RAM and 256/512 GB storage. In contrast, the Honor 80 Pro has similar storage but with lesser 8/12 GB RAM.

When it comes to the software, the Reno 9 Pro+ booted Android 13 software out of the box. Unfortunately, Honor 80 Pro came out of the box running Android 12.

Honor 80 Pro has a bigger battery size of 4,800 mAh with 66W fast charge support. While the OPPO Reno 9 Pro+ packed a 4,700 mAh and an 80W fast charging system.

Honor 80 Pro vs OPPO Reno 9 Pro Plus: Verdict

The OPPO Reno 9 Pro Plus boots the latest software- Android 13 out of the box. Unlike the Honor 80 Pro which runs on Android 12. More so, the Reno 9 Pro+ main camera supports optical image stabilization (OIS) which the Honor 80 Pro camera lacks. However, in terms of performance and display features, both devices are on par.
