Few weeks after Honor broke free from Huawei and announced talks with Google to start using its services, they are going a step further. It seems that Honor might release their first foldable device this 2021.

As we all know, the interest for Foldable smartphones is growing. We have seen so many factors and even the likes of Xiaomi and OPPO are expected to drop their own foldable phones this 2021.

Rumor also has it that iPhone is also weighing in on Foldable smartphones but now we have to include Honor in the list of smartphone companies interested in foldable phones.

Honor’s first foldable phone to debut later in 2021

According to a report from PocketNow, Honor is in the developing stages of its first Foldable smartphone. And this phone will be under the Honor Magis series to be released later this year 2021.

We still don’t understand how the first foldable phone from Honor will look like. Might be like the Galaxy Z Fold 3 or have the shape of the Galaxy Z Flip 3. As the later phones are expected to be available by summer 2021, we think it might take either of these forms.

The report also stated that Samsung will be supplying the display for the new Honor foldable phone. If this rumor is true, it means the phone will use Ultra-Thin Glass which is a more durable display.

Compared to normal phone, the demand for foldable phones are not so popular. But this should not be a problem for Honor as they plan on going big with premium devices after the breakaway from Huawei.

For now, Honor is interested in competing with Huawei and Apple in the China market. However, it will be more than that as they also have Europe in their scope of target.

And entering the European phone market will require innovation and Google mobile services from the Honor brand. We think this is what the company is trying to do. A foldable phone as innovation, more premium devices and Google Mobile Services will do the trick.
