Honor has confirmed that its first foldable smartphone the Honor Magic V will be released in China on January 10 2022. This means the company has now joined the likes of Samsung, OPPO, Xiaomi, and Huawei in the foldable market.

With OPPO releasing the Find N, Huawei bringing the Huawei P50 Pocket, and now Honor coming into the foldable space, 2022 is going to see some real competition in this space. Samsung has been dominating this space for far too long, it time for some healthy competition.

In a press release today, Honor confirmed that it will take the wrap off its Magic V foldable phone come January 10 2022 (few days from now). The launch event will be in China at 11:30 AM UTC. The company didn’t reveal details of the hardware but the teaser video shows the design of the smartphone.

From the picture above taken from the teaser video, you can see that the Honor Magic V will feature a triple rear camera setup. And the outer display also comes with a selfie camera placed in a centered punch-hole.

The smartphone is also going to take the form factor like that of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and OPPO Find N. It will feature flat display. As per the chip inside, our bet is that it will rock the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 5G chip.

Just like previously released Honor smartphones, the Honor Magic V will be available only in China. There has been no confirmation from the company if the device will make it outside the Chinese market. But, since it has support for Google Mobile Service and Google Play store, it might just make its way to the international market.
