The Camon 17 was the only Tecno smartphone that was included in the Android 12 beta program. It was able to install and test the first beta of the Android 12. With the public release of the Android 12, Tecno Mobile has now included more of its device to upgrade to the latest Android OS.
According to a new report from HiOS, the Camon 17 and Phantom X will be the first Tecno devices to get Android 12 and HiOS 8.5 updates. This Android 12 upgrade will bring major upgrades in key areas of the smartphones.

Tecno says users should expect improvements in the following areas; software infrastructure, security and privacy, connectivity, user experience, gaming and much more.
Just like the Material You feature on the Android 12, the new Tecno HiOS 8.5 version will be redesigned. It will be more responsive for users and users will be able to have unified themes across apps and devices.
As per security and privacy, the new HiOS software will be optimized and it come with Za-Hooc security concept which integrates software and hardware. According to the report, Tecno says Android 12’s newly adapted clipboard, notifications, and approximate locations will also be coming to HiOS 8.5.

When Will Tecno Camon 17 And Phantom X Get Android 12?
There is no exact date yet as to when the Camon 17 and Phantom X will get the Android update. But according to Tecno, Camon 17 users around the world should expect a pus notification to upgrade to Android 12. This means, the upgrade will be via OTA.

One feature that Tecno users have missed is major software update. And now that the company is trying to roll out Android OS update to the Camon 17 and Phantom X, it’s a welcome development. We hope future Tecno Phones gets major software updates going forward.
It is important to note that only the Tecno Camon 17 and Phantom X were officially mentioned. We can’t confirm if the Camon 17P, Camon 17 Pro, Camon 18, and Camon 18 Premier will get Android 12 update.
