Gone are the days when it take about 2 hours to charge your smartphones from 0 to 100%. Xiaomi has changed the rule by introducing the 120W fast charging brick on the Xiaomi 11T Pro that charges the phone battery from 0 to 100% in less than 20 minutes.

According to a new report, two new Xiaomi flagship smartphones is also expected to be equipped with the 120W fast charge tech. The smartphones are the Xiaomi Mi 12 and Xiaomi Mi Mix 5 (might also be called Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi Mix 5 given that the company has decided to drop the Mi name recently).

One of the smartphone the Xiaomi 12 or Mi 12 is expected to launch by November this year. While the Xiaomi Mix 5 or Mi Mix 5 is expected to come by next year with the all new Qualcomm flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 898 SoC inside.

A report from @DCS on Weibo has shown few details about the new Xiaomi flagships. According the post on Weibo, Xiaomi’s new flagship will use a new generation of fast chargers with the model number “MDY-13-E*”. This charger is still 120W, but the volume is smaller. Also, the charger retains its high power charging speed for much longer.

If this info happens to be true, it means that this new 120W fast charging tech from Xiaomi won’t be just more portable, but also charges faster. The report reveals that it’s charging time may once again set a new record.

Xiaomi 11T Pro currently holds the record of the fastest charging phone from 0 to 100% in less than 20 minutes. But with this new charger, the charging time from 0 to 100% might come down to 15 minutes. The company has also maintained its stance that the 120W fast charge is safe for battery life.

Xiaomi Mi 12 Specifications (Speculated)

There is very little official information about Xiaomi 12 or Mi 12. We don’t even know for sure what Xiaomi will call this phone just yet. But, we can speculate some of its specifications. We expect the device to come with 120Hz adaptive refresh rate.

It is also expected that the Xiaomi 12 or Mi 12 will come with a 200MP sensor with the ISP chip produced by Samsung. If the phone is released around December, then it might come with Android 12 out of the box and also rock the new Snapdragon 898 chip from Qualcomm.

We don’t expect to see a headphone jack but it might have wireless charge, support UWB technology and have curved display. But again, none of these specifications are official. Official specifications of the Xiaomi 12 or Mi 12 will surface in coming weeks. Stay tuned.
