Xiaomi 12 Lite is a budget mid-range smartphone from Xiaomi. It features a good-performing gaming chipset from Qualcomm, a colorful, smooth, and fast display, and an impressive fast charging solution. More impressive is that it’s an affordable 5G smartphone.

To know more about the Xiaomi 12 Lite, allow me to break down the specifications of the device starting with the chipset, CPU, and GPU.

Chipset, CPU, and GPU

The Xiaomi 12 Lite rocks the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G chipset/SoC. This 5G SoC is built on the 6nm process node tech, features an Octa-core CPU with a speed clocked at 2.4GHz, and the CPU is paired with the Adreno 642L GPU.

The chipset inside the Xiaomi 12 Lite has a peak download speed of about 5Gbps and a peak upload speed of about 2.5Gbps. It features fast UFS 3.1 storage and will be the first phone to use LPDDR5 RAM technology. The Snapdragon 778G 5G SoC is a good-performing chipset.

This chipset can let you play games with the Xiaomi 12 Lite without issues. Although playing some graphics-intensive games might lag and performance might drop over time. The Snapdragon 778G 5G chipset has support for NFC, 4K video recording, Infrared, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, etc.

The Xiaomi 12 Lite comes with triple rear cameras and a single front camera. On the rear, it has a 108MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 2MP macro lens, and a 32MP front camera. Some of the camera features include PDAF, Dual-LED dual-tone flash, HDR, panorama, gyro-EIS, and AF.

The 32MP front camera can only shoot videos in 1080p resolution. While the 108MP primary camera can shoot steady videos in 4K resolution. You can take decent photos and videos using the cameras of this phone.

Display, Design, and Build

The display size of the Xiaomi 12 Lite is 6.55-inch and it has an AMOLED panel, supports a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+. The front screen is flat on both sides and it’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.

As for design, it has a punch hole on top of the center of the screen. Xiaomi 12 Lite is made of a Glass front (Gorilla Glass 5), plastic back, and plastic frame. On the rear, it has a simple camera module that houses the triple rear camera sensors.

The volume buttons and the power button is located on the right-hand side of the frame. While the USB Type-C port, speaker, and microphone are on the bottom frame. Xiaomi 12 Lite is rated to be IP53 splash and dustproof and this means this phone won’t survive underwater but will survive a few splashes of water.

The Xiaomi 12 Lite has 6GB or 8GB of RAM paired with 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. It has no space for storage expansion via a microSD and no space for a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Xiaomi 12 Lite is powered by a 4,300mAh battery with support for a 67W wired fast charge. You can charge the phone using two USB Type-C ports from 0 to 100% in about 35 minutes. Other charging features include Quick Charge 4+ and Power Delivery 3.0.

Software and Sensors

Xiaomi 12 Lite boots MIUI 13 based on Android 12 out of the box and will get at least two years of major software updates. You can download and install apps from the Google Play Store on this phone and even download major updates over OTA.

As per sensors, it comes with a Fingerprint (under display, optical), accelerometer, gyro, compass, and Virtual proximity sensing.
