The Xiaomi 12T is a 2022 affordable flagship phone from Xiaomi. It is a 5G smartphone that has a 108MP main camera and a battery that supports 120W wired fast charging. This phone has similar specs as the Xiaomi Redmi K50 Ultra launched in China a few weeks back. But, it uses a different chipset and has a different price tag.
To know more about the Xiaomi 12T, allow me to break down the specifications of the device starting with the chipset, CPU, and GPU.
Chipset, CPU, and GPU
The Xiaomi 12T features the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Ultra 5G chipset. This 5G chipset is built on TSMC’s 5nm process technology. This chipset/SoC features an Octa-core CPU with a maximum CPU speed clocked at 2.85GHz. It has four high-performance Cortex-A78 cores with a speed clocked at 2.85GHz and four small-efficiency Cortex-A55 cores with a speed clocked at 2.0GHz.
This chipset has a total of 8 CPU cores and the CPU is paired with the ARM Mali-G610 GPU. This chipset is not only fast but also power efficient because of its fast CPU cores and small fabrication process. Under intensive use, the chipset can manage heat so well that the Xiaomi 12T doesn’t get excessively hot.
When playing graphics-intensive games, the phone won’t lag or throttle because the chipset can process and render graphics very fast. But this chipset has been known not to be able to maintain optimum performance for a long time. Other interesting features of this chipset are that it has support for LPDDR5 RAM tech, UFS 3.1 storage, Bluetooth 5.2, Infrared Port, and NFC, and can record videos in 4K resolution. The peak download and upload speeds of this chipset are 6Gbps and 3Gbps respectively.

Cameras
Xiaomi 12T features a triple rear camera and a single front camera. On the rear, it has a 108MP primary camera with 0.64µm pixels, f/1.65 aperture, and PDAF features. This primary camera is supported by an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 20MP front-facing camera.
The 108MP primary camera can record steady videos in 4K resolution while the 20MP front camera can record steady videos in 1080p resolution. Available camera features for photography and videography are Dual-LED flash, panorama, HDR, portrait, night mode, optical zoom, Auto Focus, PDAF, gyro-EIS, etc.

Display, Design, and Durability
The display of the Xiaomi 12T is a 6.67-inches 1.5k AMOLED panel with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. The display is flat, has a 1,220 x 2,712px resolution, and is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The display has support for HDR10+ and its peak brightness is up to 1000 nits. The front screen is flat and the bezels are relatively slim but the back panel is slightly curved.
Xiaomi 12T is made of a Glass front (Gorilla Glass 5), a plastic frame, and a glass back. It is IP68 dust/water resistant (up to 1.5m for 30 mins). Its rear camera module is placed in the top left corner while on the front it has a punch hole on top of the screen that houses the selfie camera.
The Xiaomi 12T has its volume rocker and power button on the right side of the frame of the phone. It has a microphone, speaker grill, and USB Type-C charging port on the bottom frame of the phone. Sadly, there is no 3.5mm headphone jack port and no microSD card slot.

RAM, Storage, and Battery
The Xiaomi 12T comes in three RAM and storage configurations but the storage options you’ll get depend on your region. Its storage options are 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB, and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. This device has no space for storage expansion via a microSD card slot, so you can’t expand storage. So, you only get to use the available internal storage and cloud storage services if you need more space to store your files.

The Xiaomi 12T boots MIUI 13 based on Android 12 out of the box. This phone will get at least three years of major software updates and four years of monthly security patches. You can download and install apps from the Google Play Store on this phone and even download major updates over OTA.
