The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is a new foldable smartphone that was released by Xiaomi in 2022. It is the successor to the Xiaomi Mix Fold and joins the growing list of foldable phones. It has a big inner display and a normal outer display.
To know more about the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2, allow me to break down the specifications of the device starting with the chipset, CPU, and GPU.
Chipset, CPU, and GPU
The performance of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. It is a 5G chipset built on TSMC’s 4nm process technology. This chipset features an Octa-core CPU with a speed clocked at 3.19GHz and an enhanced Adreno 730 GPU. The peak download and upload speeds of this chipset are above 10Gbps and 5Gbps respectively.
The chipset in the Z Fold 4 is not only powerful but also good at managing heat. It has the Cortex-X2 power core and 3×2.75 GHz Cortex-A710 efficiency cores. Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 can encode and decode 8K videos and has an advanced AI engine. According to Xiaomi, the CPU inside the Mix Fold 2 is 10% faster and its power efficiency is 33% better. The GPU is also said to be 10% more powerful and 30% more efficient.
Playing graphics-intensive games with the Mix Fold 2 will be smooth thanks to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip. And the device won’t get too hot when under heavy use. Other interesting features of this chipset are that it has support for LPDDR5 RAM tech, UFS 3.1 storage, Bluetooth 5.2, 8K video decode, 8K video encoding, etc.

Cameras
Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 features triple rear cameras and a single front camera. On the rear, it has a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary camera with PDAF and OIS features. The primary camera is supported by an 8MP telephoto lens that can do 2x optical zoom and a 13MP ultra-wide lens. The Mix Fold 2 has a 20MP front camera.
The 50MP primary camera can decode and encode videos in 8K resolution while the 20MP front camera can decode and encode videos in 1080p and 720p resolution. Available camera features for photography and videography are Dual LED flash, HDR, panorama, Leica lenses, portrait, night mode, OIS, PDAF, gyro-EIS, etc.

Display, Design, and Durability
Like every other foldable phone, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 has two displays. When it is opened (or unfolded), the display size of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is 8.02-inches. This is a WQHD+ OLED display with support for a 120Hz smooth refresh rate. And when the Mix Fold 2 is folded (closed), it has a 6.56-inches 1080p OLED panel with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. The outer display can be used as you would a normal phone if you don’t want to use the wider inner screen.
The front and back design of the phone looks really cool. The inner front and outer screens are flat. A Schott UTG glass protects the inner display while a Gorilla Glass Victus protects the outer display. Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 weighs about 262g (9.24 oz) and its dimension when unfolded and folded are 161.1 x 144.7 x 5.4mm and 161.1 x 73.9 x 11.2mm respectively.
The volume rocker and power button of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 are on the right side of its frame. Its microphone, speaker grill, and USB Type-C charging port are located on the bottom frame. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack port and no microSD card slot for storage expansion.

RAM, Storage, and Battery
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 has three storage options. It comes with 12GB + 256GB storage, 12GB + 512GB storage, and 12GB + 1TB storage. As stated above, you can not expand the phone’s storage via a shared microSD card slot. The RAM and storage option you’ll get may vary depending on your location.
Powering the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is a 4,500mAh non-removable battery with support for a 67W fast charge. You can charge the battery of this phone from 0 to 100% in about 40 minutes. It has no support for wireless charging but other charging features are Power Delivery 3.0 and Quick Charge 4+.

Software and Sensors
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 boots MIUI Fold 13 based on Android 12 out of the box. This phone is expected to get at least three years of major software updates and four years of monthly security patches. You can download and install apps from the Google Play Store on this phone and even download major updates over OTA.
Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 features an optical under-display fingerprint scanner, Face Unlock, and support for Google Assistant. Other sensors are an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, color spectrum, barometer, NFC, GPS, Wi-Fi Direct, etc.
