Honor has released its latest midrange device in China which comprises three smartphones: Honor 80 SE vs Honor 80 vs Honor 80 Pro. Many people are confused about which model in the lineup to buy. Thus, the reason for this comparison is to help you decide.

Prices | Design | Availability

The most expensive one in the lineup is the Honor 80 Pro with a starting price of $500, followed by the Honor 80 with a starting price of $380. While cheapest in the series is the Honor 80 SE which has a starting price of $340.

In terms of their design, they all have a similar design- curved edges display. But the Honor 80 and Honor 80 SE have a single cutout for a selfie camera, while the Honor 80 Pro features a centered pill-shaped cutout. As for their build quality, Honor was stingy and so didn’t use any premium material.

In terms of their availability, the Honor 80 series is available for purchase but for now, limited to the local market. According to Honor, smartphones would make their global debut sometime in early 2023.

Display

They may all have the same screen sizes and 120Hz refresh rate. However, the Honor 80 Pro has a 1.5k higher resolution. While the Honor 80 and Honor 80 SE features an FHD+ resolution. Though they all feature an under-display fingerprint scanner. But only the Pro variant has stereo speakers.

Camera

The Honor 80 Pro takes the gold medal for the best camera. It features a 160MP primary camera, 50MP ultrawide lens, 2MP depth sensor, and 50+2MP selfie cameras. While the Honor 80 takes the second position with a 160MP main cam, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP depth sensor, and 50MP Selfie Camera. Finally, the vanilla Honor 80 SE has the least impressive camera system. A 64MP main cam, 5MP ultrawide, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 32MP front camera.

Performance | Software

Moving on to the performance- The Honor 80 Pro is superior with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, paired with 8/12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of internal storage. While the Honor 80 takes the silver medal with Snapdragon 782G chipset paired with 8/12 GB RAM and up to 512 GB storage. The least in performance here is the vanilla Honor 80 SE with MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset paired with 8/12 GB RAM and 256GB of storage.

Software-wise, all of them are booting MagicOS 7 skin software based on Android 12 out of the box. And Honor has promised up to 2 years of OS upgrades and 3 years of security patches for all Honor 80 series.

Honor 80 SE vs Honor 80 vs Honor 80 Pro: Battery

The Honor 80 series comes with a 4,800 mAh battery capacity, except the Honor 80 SE variant with a smaller 4,600 mAh capacity. But the charging speed across all lineups is 66W.

Honor 80 SE vs Honor 80 vs Honor 80 Pro: Verdict

The Honor 80 Pro is faster than the Honor 80 and vanilla 80 SE. The Honor 80 Pro has a better camera and better performance than its siblings. However, if you are interested in other brands, you can check the OPPO Reno 9 series, Redmi Note 12 Series, and Realme 10 Series.
