Benchmarks

Based on Geekbench 6 reference performance, the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 is 6% faster in multi-core than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. But the case is slightly different when it comes to the Single-Core. Here the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is 3% better in single-core than the MediaTek Dimensity 9300.

Going by Geekbench 6 scores, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 had 2,329 Single-core points and 7,501 multi-core. While the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chip had 2,270 points on single-core and 7,916 on multi-core.

CPU

The MediaTek Dimensity 9300 vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 share some similarities here. First, both are processed on TSMC’s 4nm node. Secondly, they both featured an octa-core processor but with a different approach.

For example, the Dimensity 9300 has an all-big octa-core processor which fosters its multi-threaded performance. The prime core is Cortex-X4 clocked at 3.25GHz alongside, 3x Cortex-X4 clocked @2.85GHz, and 4x efficiency cores clocked @ up to 2GHz.

In contrast, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has a fewer big core. The prime Cortex-X4 core is clocked at 3.3GHz alongside, 5x performance cores at up to 3.2 GHz, and 2x efficiency cores clocked @ up to 2.3 GHz.

GPU | Performance

As for their graphics prowess, both chipsets have hardware ray-tracing technology and Global illumination support. The MediaTek Dimensity 9300 has an Arm Immortalis-G720 MC12 GPU. While the Adreno 750 GPU is the best Qualcomm has ever made. For one thing, both chipsets can deliver ‘console-defying’ gaming with 240 fps support on 240 Hz displays. They are both capable of playing intensive games.

AI and ML

This part is pretty tough. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has a lot of advanced computing going into play here. But the same could be said of the Dimensity 9300 too. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 supports multi-modal generation AI models, including large language models (LLMs) and language vision models (LVMs) among others.

MediaTek came prepared as well. The Dimensity 9300 supports LLMs with up to seven billion parameters running at 20 tokens per second. And depending on the RAM size, the parameters could even double.
