The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip is Qualcomm’s reply to Apple A17 Pro, Samsung Exynos 2400, and Mediatek Dimensity 9300 chipsets. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is built on a 4nm process with special attention to AI, gaming, audio, and camera advancements.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 features an octa-core CPU. The prime Cortex-X4 core is clocked at 3.3GHz alongside, five performance cores at up to 3.2 GHz, and 2 efficiency cores clocked @ up to 2.3 GHz. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 brings a 1+5+2 CPU architecture.
As for the graphics, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 brings a new Adreno GPU that can offer 40% better Ray Tracing. According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 GPU offers a 25% improvement in performance and a 25% performance improvement in efficiency.
Additionally, the chipset can deliver ‘console-defying’ gaming with 240 fps support on 240 Hz displays. Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0 can generate frames for smoother playback, and there’s Unreal Engine 5.2 support
In terms of RAM and Storage technology, the chipset supports LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage type. The SoC supports up to 200MP camera sensors and 8K video recording at 60fps.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 takes AI to the next level. There’s native support for both Stable Diffusion and Llama 2. According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has the fastest Stable Diffusion in the world at under one second per image generation. More so, AI is all over image signal processing from still photos to video recording to image editing.
Lastly, The display supports up to 4K Ultra HD @ 60 Hz, and QHD+ @ 144 Hz. As per connectivity, it offers Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, USB-C 3.2, sub-6Ghz, and mmWave 5G connectivity.
