Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro is a premium gaming smartphone from ZTE/Nubia. It is the successor/upgrade of the Red Magic 7 Pro released by the company last year. This phone shares some similar features as the Red Magic 7 Pro but now features a chipset that has newer CPU cores and a more powerful GPU.

Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. This 5G chipset is built on TSMC’s second-generation 4nm process technology. It features an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 740 GPU. The CPU has one Cortex-X3 performance core, two Cortex-A715 prime cores, two Cortex-A710 prime cores, and three Cortex-A510 efficiency cores.

The chipset in this phone is powerful and features a fast 5G MODEM, fast Wi-Fi, and a powerful ISP and AI engine. The ZTE Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro has:

Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro has a triple rear camera system and a single front camera. It has a 50MP main camera that is supported by an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 16MP selfie camera. The 16MP front camera is placed under the display of the phone.

The 50MP main camera can record steady videos in 8K resolution while the 16MP front camera can record videos in 1080p resolution. Other camera features are Dual-LED flash, HDR, panorama, gyro-EIS, etc.

Display, Design, and Durability

Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro has a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ 1080 x 2400 pixels display resolution that supports a 120Hz refresh rate. The front screen is flat, has very tiny bezels, and has an under-display camera technology. This allows users to have access to the full screen as there is no punch-hole or cut-out notch on the screen.

The phone is made of a Glass front, glass back, and aluminum frame. It has an Aviation aluminum middle frame and the display is protected by Gorilla Glass. The rear camera module is located in the top center, the REDMAGIC text is written in the middle of the rear pane while the REDMAGIC logo is printed on the bottom of the rear panel.

The phone has Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) and stereo speakers (one at the bottom the other at the top). The volume and power buttons are on the right side of the frame while the USB Type-C port and microphone are at the bottom frame of the phone. There is no microSD card slot but there is a 3.5mm headphone jack port.

Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro comes in various storage models. It has 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 256GB, and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. To get the 16/18 GB RAM model, you’ll have to buy the Red Magic Pro+ Model. There is no microSD card slot hence users can expand storage once they exhaust the internal storage.

The battery inside the phone is a 6,000mAh battery (dual 3000mAh) and it supports 80W wired fast charging. It does not support wireless charging and you can charge the phone from 0 to 100% in about 35 minutes using the 80W wired charger.
