Samsung has started working on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 foldable phone and now we have words that the company has started mass production for the S Pen the device would use. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is expected to debut by August this year. It’s expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip and might boot Android 13 out of the box. But, there is going to be an even more interesting feature.
According to reports, the S Pen that will work with the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will have its own slot inside the phone. Just like we’ve seen on Samsung Galaxy Notes and the Galaxy S22 Ultra. While the dedicated S Pen slot report is not confirmed by Samsung yet, we can confirm that just like the Galaxy Z Fold 3, the Z Fold 4 will have support for S Pen.

Sharing a tweet on Twitter, @stufflistings stated that the S Pen for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 has entered production in many European and Asian countries. And if this information is correct, it also means the new Samsung UTG for the front display of the Galaxy Z Fold is ready.
A new S Pen for the new Super UTG?
Remember that not every S Pen works well with the display of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. In fact, only the S Pen Fold Edition and S Pen Pro are compatible with the Z Fold 3. This is because Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) used in the display of the Z Fold 3 can be damaged by a regular S Pen.

But, Samsung is said to be working on a new or the second generation of UTG that is called ‘Super UTG”. This new Ultra-Thin Glass technology is expected to feature in the Galaxy Z Fold 4. It’s said to be stronger and more durable which leaves the question if a regular S Pen can be used on the Super UTG without damaging the display.

For now, there are no words about the Super UTG and how strong it is compared to the UTG used in the Z Fold 3. But, we do know that the Super UTG will have support for S Pen. We’ll keep our ears open and when we have new updates we’ll bring you an update. So stay tuned.
