Network Connectivity

So for a start both phones are tied in this category. You get same value for the money spent here. Now lets move on to the build, design and display category to see where the differences begins.

Build, Design and Display

These phones use same Glass front, plastic back, plastic frame build. There is no ratings for water or dust resistance for either phones. But the differences starts from here. Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 display protection which is not available in the Camon 15 premier. The Camon 15 premier then use its bigger screen of 6.6 inches to compensate. Redmi Note 8 pro comes with a 6.53 inches display size.

Next is the Design of both phones. When it comes to design, most people will prefer the full screen pop up camera phone to the little water drop or cut out display. Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with the water drop or cut out display while the Camon 15 premier has the latest pop up selfie camera.

Both phones have the slight curved design with fingerprint sensor mounted at the back. For those who would love to get the full screen to themselves, the Camon 15 premier is the phone for you.

Well, to be honest there are so many things to consider here before drawing a conclusion. The Tecno phone does not have a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 display protection but a screen guard protector will do just fine. While the Redmi phone does not have pop up selfie camera but its not some pop up triggers that determines the quality of photos.

At the end, it all comes down to what you really like in a phone. For sure, if you want to go for durability in display, the Redmi phone wins but for bigger display and the fancy pop up selfie camera, well that will have to be the Tecno phone.

Operating System and Chipset

Redmi Note 8 Pro was released in 2019 and its running Android 9.0 (Pie) along with the User Interface MIUI 10. The Camon 15 Premier was released in 2020 and its running Android 10.0 along with the User Interface HIOS 6.0. We don’t know if the Redmi phone will get Android 10 updates yet.

There are some differences in the SOC section. Although both phones uses MediaTek SOCs, the Camon 15 premier uses Mediatek MT6765 Helio P35 (12nm) while Redmi Note 8 pro uses Mediatek Helio G90T (12nm). The Mediatek Helio G90T (12nm) has more recent CPU cores and arguably better GPU.

So, one should expect better performance in the Redmi Note 8 pro. Faster browsing, download and upload speed due to the fact that it has more recent CPU cores. As a gaming SOC, the Mediatek Helio G90T (12nm) should also have better graphic and game processing power.

Internal Storage and RAM

So far, the Camon 15 premier comes in a single variant of 6GB RAM and 128GB Internal Storage which is good but leaves users with no choice. Unlike the Redmi Note Pro that comes with 6GB/8GB RAM and 64GB/128GB Internal Storage. Both phones have space for expanding storage via microSD card.

In conclusion, both phones brings same value to the table. But, the Redmi Note 8 pro gives you option to choose from. Which is really good because not everyone will have that much money to buy the 128GB internal storage version.

Camera

The Camon series are known for their camera performance while the Redmi Note series is popular for lots of things including camera.

Both phones comes with a 64MP quad rear camera which is a big megapixel. But in the front the Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with a 20MP selfie camera while the Camon 15 Premier comes with a 32MP pop up selfie camera. This is a close call because both phones comes with a feature that the other lacks.

For example, the Tecno Camon 15 PREMIER is using Sony IMX686 64MP sensor which is unique. What it means is you should expect better photo quality but that is not to say we should write off the Redmi Note 8 Pro camera. Below is the reason why.

But then, the Redmi Note 8 Pro is capable of shooting 4K videos with gyro-EIS feature enabled in video mode.

Now here is the deal. One phone promises to offer you better quality photos (Camon 15 Premier). While the other promises to offer higher quality and steady video recording (Redmi Note 8 Pro). You are the judge, you choose. Next on our comparison list is the battery.

Battery

Tecno Camon 15 premier comes with 40000 mAh battery which is good but the 4500 mAh battery found the the Redmi Note 8 Pro is still better. The Redmi phone comes with 18W fast charge which is not available in the Tecno phone.

Prices

The price of the Redmi Note 8 Pro is About $215, ₦83,000 Naira (Lower Version) and $239, ₦92,000 Naira (higher version). The price of the Camon 15 premier is about $247, N95,000 Naira. While the price difference is within similar range, you still have to decide which of these phones you’d like to buy. A pop up selfie camera phone which brings style, latest software and better camera or a cut out notch display phone that brings more durability, bigger battery along with quality and stable video mode.

No doubt the Camon 15 Premier vs REDMI Note 8 Pro phones are very different. Well they are produced by different company under different phone series. But, don’t miss out the features that sets them apart. These features are what will help you decide on which phone you should buy.
