A close look of events leading to the release of the Huawei P50 series shows that the Chinese phone maker is facing chipset issues. This new chipset issue is strong enough to make Huawei stop the production of smartphone. But the chairman of the company says NO.

Huawei Will Still Be Making Smartphones

The recently released Huawei P50 series supports only 4G. This devices comes in two versions with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 and Kirin 9000 SoCs. Sadly, none of these devices support 5G, they only have support for 4G network.

The impact of this is already showing in the market. After the launch of the P50 series, old Huawei smartphones such as Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 40 that supports 5G saw an increase in their prices.

This is because users thinks these old Huawei smartphones with 5G are better than the newer 4G Huawei smartphones. This problem is not easy to solve, but it is not impossible to bypass the 5G restrictions from the U.S. According to the latest report, the Chinese manufacturer will be able to solve the 5G problem in 2022.

Mr. Ping said, “The mobile phone business has caused us the greatest difficulty at the current stage. We all know that the chip of a mobile phone requires advanced technology, small size, and low power consumption”.

According to Mr Ping, it is easy for Huawei to design chips. But after designing the chip, there is no one to produce the chips and this is the major problem the company is facing. According to him, Huawei’s partners in the industry chain are still tackling key issues.

But, Guo Ping has not lost hope in Huawei’s mobile phone business, saying that he believes that “our consumer business will survive and we will not give up the mobile phone business”. According to him, the field of mobile phone is the third largest industrial fields in the world, the first field been real estate, and the second field been automobiles.
