Display

The Huawei P50 Pro is a flagship device with a nice display quality at the moment. It has a 6.6″ Full HD+ curved OLED touchscreen with a resolution of 1,228×2,700 pixels and a high refresh rate of 120Hz and 300Hz touch sampling rate.

While Apple iPhone 12 Pro display is smaller with a 6.1″ Full HD+ OLED flat screen. It has no high refresh rate which is a flaw on the iPhone 12 Pro. However, the screen brightness can max up to 1200 nits.

Overall, the Huawei P50 Pro display is the ideal one at the moment. It has the screen sharpness and also the 120Hz refresh rate to keep things smooth.

Camera

When it comes to camera comparison, Huawei P50 Pro has a great setup. A 50MP main snapper aided by 64MP periscope telephoto lens + 13MP ultrawide camera and 40MP black/white sensor. Upfront is a 13MP selfie camera.
Features of the camera include: Leica optics, optical image stabilization, PDAF, 3.5x optical zoom, Laser AF and can record video in 4k resolution.

Huawei P50 Pro is powered by Snapdragon 888 4G chipset or you can opt for the Kirin 9000 4G model. Either case, the Huawei P50 Pro only exist in 4G models. And it is Paired with 8/12GB RAM with 128/256GB or 512GB storage options.

A14 Bionic chipset powers the iPhone 12 Pro. Paired with 6GB RAM + 128/256GB or 512GB storage options. It is 5G network enabled.

Thus, when it comes to performance of both devices, one key difference is the 5G network availability. And iPhone 12 Pro is the only one here with the next gen connectivity.

Software

Another significant difference between both smartphones. The Huawei P50 Pro runs HarmonyOS 2.0 software out of the box. Since the US ban won’t allow it to use the Google Mobile Services. Making the smartphone uneasy to use outside China.

Meanwhile, iOS 14.7 is the software running on the iPhone 12 Pro. And the iPhone 12 Pro is certain of getting regular software update from Apple for the next 5-6 years. The Software experience of iPhone 12 Pro is better.

The Huawei P50 Pro’s battery last longer than that of iPhone 12 Pro. More interesting is the very fact that the Huawei P50 Pro battery supports 66W fast charge.

The US ban placed on Hauwei from using GMS (Google Mobile Services) is really affecting the company. It makes it difficult to recommend the smartphone for residents living outside China. So, Apple iPhone 12 Pro remains the king of hearts here.

So if I’m to score both smartphones by percentage. I’ll score the Huawei P50 Pro (45%) while Apple iPhone 12 Pro gets (55%).
