iOS 16 supported iPhones: Apple has announced a new version of the iOS and it’s called the iOS 16. The iOS 16 is the successor to the iOS 15 released last year and it brings some key changes. It’s always good to get the download and install the latest iOS update on your iPhone. But the question is will your current iPhone be able to install the new iOS 16.
Apple is arguably the best software provider in the smartphone industry. Only Samsung and Google Pixels have similar software update plans as Apple. iPhones that were released as far back as 2017 will be able to install the latest iOS 16. This means the list of iOS 16 supported iPhones includes devices from four years.
List of iOS 16 supported iPhones
Below are the lists of Apple iPhones that can install the iOS 16 update:
- iPhone SE 3 (iPhone SE 2022)
- iPhone 13
- iPhone 13 mini
- iPhone 13 Pro
- iPhone 13 Pro Max
- iPhone 12
- iPhone 12 mini
- iPhone 12 Pro
- iPhone 12 Pro Max
- iPhone SE 2 (iPhone SE 2020)
- iPhone 11
- iPhone 11 Pro
- iPhone 11 Pro Max
- iPhone XS
- iPhone XS Max
- iPhone XR
- iPhone X
- iPhone 8
- iPhone 8 Plus
Although lots of iPhones will be able to install the iOS 16 update, not all the iPhones on this list will have support for all the features coming with the iOS 16. For example, only iPhones with the Apple A12 Bionic chipset and later will be able to use the new on-device dictation feature. Live Text is another feature that will only work in iPhones that use the A12 Bionic chipset and later.
So iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus won’t be able to use these features. To enjoy iOS 16 to the full, you’ll need to have an iPhone XS or later iPhones. And we expect this issue to continue as Apple continues to make changes and upgrades to the iOS software.
Some key changes that are coming to your iPhone with the iOS 16 are an all-new lock screen, SharePlay via Messages, Wallet improvements, and redesigned core apps such as Home. But, as stated above, you need to have an iPhone XS or later to enjoy these features.
Apple is expected to release the final software version of the iOS 16 to iPhone users by September. But right now, developers can download the beta version and the first public beta is expected to be available by next month.
