1. Price and Availability

If you are looking at the cost factor, the Galaxy A35 is the right one for you because it’s the most affordable of these two. It has a starting price of €380 for the 6/128 GB storage version. While the Galaxy A55 is more expensive with a starting price of €480 for the 8/128 GB model. Both smartphones are now available for pre-order and open sales will commence March 25, 2024.

2. Display, Design and Durability

The designs are similar but the build material differs. Both smartphones have a dot-in display, the front and back are made of glass and the rear cameras are aligned vertically. However, the Samsung Galaxy A55 is more premium because it’s the only one with a metal frame.

As for durability, The Galaxy A55 uses Gorilla Glass Victus+ likely on both front and rear, while the Galaxy A35 uses Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front (no official word on the glass material on the rear). Gorilla Glass Victus+ is said to be 2x scratch resistant as the Gorilla Glass 5 on the Galaxy A54 and A34. And just to add to it, both are water and dust-resistant.

When it comes to their displays, the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 are built around the same display – a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with FHD+ resolution (1080x2340px) and 120 Hz refresh rate support.

3. Performance- Samsung Galaxy A55 is Faster

Performance-wise, the Galaxy A55 is superior. It comes with the Exynos 1480 5G chipset, paired with 8/12 GB RAM and 128/256 GB storage models. In contrast, the Galaxy A35 is powered by last year’s Exynos 1380 5G chipset, paired with 6/8 GB RAM and 128/256 GB storage model. Overall, the Galaxy A55 is faster and better equipped for gaming.

4. Camera Comparison

The Galaxy A55 has a 32MP f/2.2 selfie camera, while on the rear there’s a 50MP f/1.8 primary shooter with OIS, a 12MP f/2.2 fixed-focus ultrawide camera, and a 5MP f/2.4 macro camera.

The Galaxy A35 5G comes with a 13MP f/2.2 front-facing unit, a 50MP f/1.8 primary camera, an 8MP f/2.2 fixed-focus ultrawide shooter, and a 5MP f/2.4 macro unit.

Both smartphones can record video in 4K resolution. For selfies, the Galaxy A55 is better. The portrait mode is great on both devices. But night photography is better on Galaxy A55 and the same applies to the ultrawide lens.

5. Software

Samsung promises 4 years of major OS updates and 5 years of security patches for the Galaxy A55 and A35. So they both have OneUI 6.1 skin based on Android 14 out of the box.

Samsung Galaxy A55 and A35 share a 5,000mAh battery capacity with 25W charging support. When fully charged, they can conveniently carry you for a full day. It’s an impressive battery lifestyle.

Samsung Galaxy A55 is better than the Galaxy A35. But the better version is also more expensive. Excluding the price difference of €100, the Galaxy A55 has faster performance and a more premium design of body built.
