Design: Samsung Galaxy A72 vs Samsung Galaxy A52
These two Galaxy smartphones have similar front design. A center punch hole notch (or like Samsung calls it, infinity-O display). The back design is also similar. The same camera module, same camera arrangement and same Dolby Atmos-enabled stereo speakers.
Both smartphones are also water resistant with an IP67 rating (dust tight, submersion up to 1m of water for 30 minutes). These two smartphones are really fun and capable all-rounders.

When it comes to the display, the Samsung Galaxy A52 is the smaller of these two phones. It has a flat 6.5” display and weighs in at 189grams. The display is a Super AMOLED panel with 1080p+ screen resolution and a high refresh rate of 90Hz for the 4G model and 120Hz on the 5G.
While, the Galaxy A72 has a larger display of 6.7-inches Super Amoled panel. With 1080p+ 90Hz refresh rate enabled. The phone weighs 203grams. And both smartphones (A52 and A72) are also protected by corning gorilla glass 5.

On the camera segment, both devices are well sophisticated with 32 MP front camera. However, the Samsung Galaxy A72 rear camera is more versatile. It has 64MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide, 5MP macro and the “difference” lens of 8MP telephoto sensor that is capable of 3x optical zoom with f/2.4 aperture and OIS. The Galaxy A72 has a type of flagship camera set up.

Samsung Galaxy A72 vs Samsung Galaxy A52 chipset comparison is simple and easy. Both devices are powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset. The chipset has an Octa-core processor with Adreno 618 GPU. However if you are purchasing the Galaxy A52 5G, that one is powered by Snapdragon 750G which is more powerful and 5G enabled.
The memory of these two smartphones are different. If you purchase the Galaxy A52, you will get 4GB of RAM as standard, but can go up to 6GB and 8GB. Pairing with either 128 GB storage or 256 GB storage.
While the Galaxy A72 is available in 6/128GB model, or you can also go for the higher variant 8/256GB option (as a reminder, there’s a microSD slot available)
Both devices run Android 11 out of the box. The A52 and A72 are launching with One UI 3.1 skin software and as with other Samsung phones they will receive security updates for 4 years and three major OS updates.
The Galaxy A52 has a 4,500mAh battery and comes with a 15W charger in the box. Moreover, the phone also supports 25W charger – if you have one, you can fill the battery from 0% to 50% in half an hour. But take note, only 15W comes in the box with the smartphone.
Whereas, the Samsung Galaxy A72 has a slight bigger battery size of 5000mAh capacity with 25W fast charging support. It is expected since the display is bigger.

Samsung Galaxy A72 vs Samsung Galaxy A52 Verdict
Samsung has done tremendously well with both devices. They are well optimised from the box. Running on the latest softwares and having good hardwares that can hardly be beaten by any competition. More interesting is the camera capability with OIS. Design wise, their durability can’t be questioned (both are water resistant).
However, the only reason to consider the A72 over the A52 would be because of its 8MP telephoto lens and bigger battery capacity.
