Samsung Galaxy S22 vs Galaxy S21 FE: Samsung released the Galaxy S22 about a month after the release of the Galaxy S21 FE. The Galaxy S21 FE has always been a fan favorite but is it better than the Galaxy S22?

Although both phones were released the same year, both are very different phones. Granted, there are some similarities but trust me, there are lots of differences. That’s why in this article I’ll be comparing the specifications of both phones to see which is better.

Display and Design

Both the Galaxy S22 and S21 FE features an AMOLED panel, FHD+ resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate. So, the display quality and color are pretty much the same. But, the Galaxy S21 FE has a bigger 6.4-inch display while the Galaxy S22 has a smaller 6.1-inch display.

The design of both smartphones looks very similar. Both have the same camera bump and the same punch-hole design. These phones are also rated IP68 and this means they’re both water and dust resistant.

As far as display and design go, both phones offer the same value. But, you get a slightly bigger display on the Galaxy S21 FE if you need a bigger screen.

Camera

Samsung is very good at making phones with good cameras. At the rear, the Galaxy S21 has triple cameras: a 12MP main camera with the OIS, an 8MP telephoto lens with 2x optical, and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. And upfront it features a 32MP selfie camera.

The Galaxy S22 on the other hand has triple rear cameras: a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. And upfront it comes with a 10MP selfie camera.

The cameras of both phones will give you quality photos and videos. But, the Galaxy S22 uses a newer 50MP main camera and a telephoto lens with better optical zoom. The camera sensors inside the Galaxy S22 are also newer than the ones inside the Galaxy S21 FE.

So, for a better camera experience, the Samsung Galaxy S22 is the device to buy. This does not in any way mean the cameras of the Galaxy S21 FE are bad. NO, it only means when compared with those of the Galaxy S22, it falls behind.

Performance | Storage | RAM | 5G

The performance of the Galaxy S22 is improved and better than that of the Galaxy S21 FE. This is because the Galaxy S22 features the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. Whereas the Galaxy S21 FE features the older Snapdragon 888 5G chip.

From tests, the chipset inside the S22 is 20x better and 30x more efficient than that chipset inside the S21 FE. The chipset inside the Galaxy S22 also has newer CPU cores, newer GPU, newer NPU, and new ISP.

These two smartphones have support for 5G network connectivity. The RAM inside the Galaxy S22 is 8GB with storage options are 128 and 256GB. The Galaxy S21 FE on the other hand has 6 or 8GB of RAM with storage options ranging from 128 and 256GB.

When it comes to performance, the Samsung Galaxy S22 is ahead of the S21 FE. You get a better gaming and a smoother user experience.

Software

Both the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S21 FE boot Android 12 out of the box. Samsung has promised 4 years of major software updates for its device. This means both devices will be major software updates up to Android 16.

Battery

Galaxy S22 is powered by a 3,700mAh battery while the Galaxy S21 FE is powered by a 4,500mAh battery. Both phones have support for wireless charge.

The Galaxy S21 FE has a bigger battery that will take you a long time. This is one area where the Galaxy S21 FE is better than the Galaxy S22.

Between the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S21 FE which is better? The Galaxy S22 is the better device. It has a better chipset, newer camera sensors, and more camera features.

The Galaxy S21 FE does have a bigger display and a bigger battery. And it’s also cheaper. So if these are things you’d like in a smartphone, you can buy the Galaxy S21 FE.
