One of the main highlights from those is that Qualcomm is testing two different versions of the chipset. Among these, the one that is exceptionally efficient will end up in commercial devices. But the real question is, how much of a performance upgrade will the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 offer? Well, we’ve gathered interesting information on the subject.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 could be 30% Better Than The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset is already a wonderful chipset. However, according to recent leaks, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is expected to be better. In fact, one report suggested that the SD 8 Gen 3 chipset is 30% better than the SD 8 Gen 2. The difference starts from the process technology used in the new chipset.

According to another report, Qualcomm will not be using the 3nm process of TSMC in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. However, it’ll be using the N4P process to mass produce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The performance of the N4P process technology is about 11% faster than the N5 process and 6% faster than the regular N4 process (N4 process was used in the SD 8 Gen 2 chipset).

This new process technology is responsible for the 30% performance increase of the chipset over the SD 8 Gen 2. A 30% increase in performance means operations on the phone powered by the SD 8 Gen 3 will be smoother and quicker in handling CPU and GPU intensive tasks.

CPU Performance: Multi and Single Core

The new report also said that the multi-core performance of the 8 Gen 3 increased by 20%. For context, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 gets 5137 in Geekbench 5 test. A 20% increase means the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 could score around 6164 in the same multi core test.

For single core performance, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is said to be about 13% better. So the new chipset could get around 2109 score which is a better score than the 1867 score of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. All these increase hints that the new SD 8 Gen 3 chipset will have more computational power and thus will be a faster chipset than the SD 8 Gen 2.
