A new report has suggested that Xiaomi is working on releasing a flagship phone with 200MP camera. Xiaomi recently has put camera as one of its main focus and this is why the selling point of the Mi 11 Ultra was its photography and filming powers.
According to tipster @DCS, Xiaomi is working on bringing major improvements to the camera of its flagship smartphones to debut in 2022. And these flagship phones will rock the Snapdragon 888 Plus under the hood.
Other features of the device also include dual-curved display (curved to the sides) with a punch-hole camera for the selfie camera (not under display).
The name of the device still remain unknown but we can only assume it’ll be the Xiaomi Mi 12 series – since the device is said to be a flagship device.
The Chinese company has always been known for pushing the boundaries when it comes to smartphone cameras. Xiaomi was the first to make use of 108MP camera in a smartphone back in 2019 when they launched the Xiaomi Mi Note 10.
Although the 108MP sensor initially had focus issues, it was resolved in subsequent 108MP sensors. Even mid-range smartphones from Xiaomi are rocking the 108MP – Redmi Note 10 Pro.
Some smartphone manufacturers have embraced the 108MP but others have decided to stick with 50MP and 64MP sensors.
Xiaomi using the Snapdragon 888 Plus makes sense for a flagship device expected to be released in 2022. The Snapdragon 888 Plus is the overclocked version of the Snapdragon 888 SoC both from Qualcomm. Its processor is built on 4nm manufacturing process and it offers 20% increase in AI performance.
However, we are still expecting Xiaomi to release one more flagship device in 2021 that will come with an under-display selfie camera and UWD connectivity.
Seems the company has allot in store for its users in 2021 and beyond. Stay tuned for more updates.
