It is the successor to the Redmi Note 11 Pro released last year and it features the Dimensity 1080 5G chipset, a new 50MP OIS primary camera, 67W fast charging, and many more. Chipset, CPU, and GPU

At the helm of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro is the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 5G chipset. This 5G chipset is built on TSMC’s 6nm process technology and features an Octa-core processor. The Dimensity 1080 5G chipset has an Octa-core CPU with a maximum speed clocked at 2.6GHz. It has two ARM Cortex-A78 power cores with a clock speed of 2.6GHz and ARM Cortex-A55 efficiency cores with a speed of 2.00GHz.

The CPU cores are paired with the ARM Mali-G68 MC4 GPU. This chipset is fast and also power efficient because of its fast CPU cores and small fabrication process. The chipset can encode and decode 4K videos and has NFC, LPDDR4x RAM tech, UFS 2.2 storage tech, etc. For gamers, the Dimensity 1080 5G chipset can perform for a long time without dropping frame rates.

Cameras

Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro features a triple rear camera and a single front camera. On the rear, it has a 50MP primary camera with f/1.9 aperture, PDAF, and OIS features. The primary camera sensor is the Sony IMX766 sensor which takes good photos. This primary camera is supported by an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 16MP front-facing wide camera with an f/2.5 aperture.

The back camera of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro can steady videos in 4K resolution while the front camera can record steady videos in 1080p resolution. Available camera features for photography and videography in this smartphone include LED flash, HDR, panorama, Night mode, Portrait, OIS, gyro-EIS, etc.

Display, Design, and Durability

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro has a 6.67-inches flat OLED display. The display resolution is FHD+ (1080 x 2400 pixels), supports 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, 240Hz touch sampling, and Dolby Vision, and has a peak brightness of 900 nits and 1920Hz PW dimming. The front screen is flat but the back panel is slightly curved. The dimension of the Redmi Note 12 Pro is 162.9 x 76 x 7.9 mm (6.41 x 2.99 x 0.31 in) and it weighs about 187 g (6.60 oz).

On the rear, it has a camera module in the top left corner while on the front it has a single punch hole that houses the front camera. Its screen-to-body ratio is 86.8% and it also features a Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by). There is no space for storage expansion via a microSD card slot but there is space for a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The volume rocker and power button of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro are on the right side of the frame of the phone. While its microphone, stereo speaker grill, and USB Type-C charging port are on the bottom of the frame. It also has a second speaker and microphone on the top side of the frame.

RAM, Storage, and Battery

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro comes in four storage options. It comes in 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 256GB storage. As stated above, there is no space for a microSD card hence users can not expand the storage of this phone via a microSD card when the internal storage is full.

A 5,000mAh battery powers the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro and it has support for 67W wired fast charging. You can charge the battery of this phone using the 67W charger from 0 to 100% in about 40 minutes. But, there is no wireless charging and no reverse wireless charging solution available.

Software and Other Features

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro boots MIUI 13 based on Android 13 out of the box. This phone will get at least three years of software updates. You can download and install apps from the Google Play Store on this phone and even download major updates over OTA.
