Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro: There is always this feeling that follows when you see a Xiaomi Redmi phone. Maybe its the design, the display, camera quality or the fact that it comes with incredible features at a very cheap price. We really don’t know how best to describe it but user satisfaction is always guaranteed. And we hope this is what the Redmi Note 9 Pro is also bringing.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro is a slightly lower version of Redmi Note 9 pro Max released by Xiaomi as the new phone in its Redmi Note series. It is a known fact that Xiaomi always tries to pack this mid-range Android phone with incredible features at very cheap prices.
So, will the newly released Redmi Note 9 Pro break the streak or will it live up to its name. We can only get the answer from examining its paper features and later on from our live test and review. Build and Display
The quality of a smartphone can be seen right from it’s build and display. A first look at the Samsung Galaxy Ultra, Samsung Galaxy Z flip and the likes of Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max can testify to this. The aforementioned phones uses high quality materials for the build and comes with good display hence they are very expressive. So let’s see what the new Xiaomi phone have to offer.
Back and front, the Redmi Note 9 Pro is made of Gorilla Glass 5 coupled with a plastic frame to complete it’s build. If you have seen Gorilla Glass 5 in action, you’ll know that is is good for the phone. The plastic frame is just okay too.
It uses an IPS LCD display type with a display size of 6.67 inches with a PPI density of 395. Display is protected by the Gorilla Glass 5 which means a simple fall won’t actually cause serious damage to the screen. It’s splash proof feature also means you won’t have to be scared of little drops of water. Overall, the build and display features are very good for a mid-range phone.

Chipset, RAM and Internal Storage
The phone uses the Qualcomm SM7125 Snapdragon 720G (8 nm) which is known for its incredible gaming ability. It also uses the Octa-core (2×2.3 GHz Kryo 465 Gold & 6×1.8 GHz Kryo 465 Silver) CPU and Adreno 618 GPU for image and games processing.
The phone comes in two variant, a 6GB RAM, 64GB Internal Storage and a 6GB RAM, 128GB Internal Storage. It also have space for external storage via microSD card.
Camera
With it’s Quad rear Cameras, this phone is in the league of modern mid-range Android phones. It has a 48MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide, 5MP macro and 2MP depth sensor. It is no the first time we are seen these cameras in a mid-range Android phone.
Upfront, the new phone comes with a 16 megapixel placed in a punch hole at the middle of the screen. The features of the camera includes, HDR, panorama, PDAF and gyro-EIS. There is no telephoto but the macro lens should give you all the fun in with small objects.

The phone comes with latest Android 10 software with MIUI 11 for its user interface. With these software, one can expect to have smooth experience with the apps and phone operations. It’s very impressive how Xiaomi manages to put together everything you need in an Android phone at an affordable price. This new Redmi Note from Xiaomi is a combination of everything you need in a mid-range smartphone.
With a more recent chipset like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and some additional features in display (like 90Hz refresh rate, water, dust and scratch resistant), this phone could have just been a flagship device.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro is yet to be announced for sale in the Nigeria market but we are guessing it will cost about N65,500 Naira on arrival. As at now we can not say for sure if the phone will be sold in the Nigeria market. We’ll update this post when there is any news regarding this phone availability in the market.
