The OPPO Reno 7 Pro comes with a 6.55-inch display, HDR10+ support, and an AMOLED panel with support for a 90Hz refresh rate. It has a 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Its build material is Glass front (Gorilla Glass 5), glass back (Panda Glass), and aluminum frame. The front screen is flat and it has a punch hole at the top left corner.

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G comes with a 6.52-inch display, 120Hz refresh rate, AMOLED panel, and has support for HDR10+ support. It also has a 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution and its peak brightness is 1000 nits. Its build material is Glass front (Gorilla Glass), plastic back, and plastic frame. Galaxy A53 5G is rated to be IP67 water and dust resistant and it has a single punch hole at the top center screen.

There is really not much difference in the size and quality of the display. But the Galaxy A53 5G comes with a faster 120Hz refresh rate and is built to be water and dust resistant. These two features are missing from the display and build of the Reno 7 Pro. The higher refresh rate and water/dust resistant feature make the Galaxy A53 5G a better device here.

When it comes to cameras the OPPO Reno 7 Pro has triple rear cameras and a single front camera. At the rear, it has a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 32MP selfie camera. The rear camera can shoot videos in 4K resolution and it has gyro-EIS for video stabilization.

The camera quality of both phones is really good. But, the Galaxy A53 5G takes it up a notch with its OIS feature and extra 5MP depth sensor lens. The Galaxy A53 5G captures more details and keeps the object more in focus. Plus, the front and rear cameras of the Galaxy A53 5G can shoot videos in 4K resolution but only the rear camera of the Reno 7 Pro can do this. Overall, the Galaxy A53 5G edge the Reno 7 Pro when it comes to camera quality and features.

Performance | Storage | RAM | 5G

The performance of both smartphones is very different. The chipset inside the OPPO Reno 7 Pro is the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 Max 5G. While the chipset inside the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is the Samsung’s Exynos 1280 5G. When it comes to gaming, overall performance, and power efficiency, the OPPO Reno 7 Pro is better than the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G. The OPPO Reno 7 Pro is no doubt the best performing phone between these two. It has a better chipset with faster CPU cores and a more powerful GPU. It also has a decent camera setup and a better usage battery experience.

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G on the other hand offers you the best value for the money. It has a more complete camera setup with more features, it has a faster display, it’s also the more durable device with its IP67 water/dust resistant rating, it has a better software update policy, and its price is $300 less.

If I’m to score both phones, I’ll score the OPPO Reno 7 Pro (48%) and the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G (52%). Even though the Reno 7 Pro offers better performance, the Galaxy A53 5G is a more balanced device and offers better value for money.
