Realme 9 Pro Plus vs OPPO Reno 7 Pro: Realme recently launched the Realme 9 Pro+ as its premium mid-range smartphone with a really impressive camera. OPPO launched the Reno 7 Pro a few months back and it featured an impressive 5G Dimensit chip. So, between the Reno 7 Pro and Realme 9 Pro+ which is better?

There are a few things to consider when making the decision to buy smartphones. These things include camera features, performance, battery, and of course the price. In this comparison post, I’ll compare the specifications of the Realme 9 Pro+ and OPPO Reno 7 Pro to see which is actually better.

Display and Design

The display panel of both smartphones is AMOLED, both are FHD+ resolution, and features a 90Hz refresh rate. But, the display of the Reno7 Pro is bigger by about 0.15-inches and it also has support for HDR10+. When it comes to design, both phones look very similar.

Both smartphones have a punch-hole at the top left corner but have similar rear camera modules. These two smartphones also feature flat-screen displays. The displays of phones have similar quality but the extra display features.

Camera

The camera segment is where things get a little tricky. Realme 9 Pro+ has a total of four cameras, a 50MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 16MP selfie camera. The 50MP rear camera of the Realme 9 Pro+ is the Sony IMX766 sensor and it offers great clarity in photography and videography.

The OPPO Reno 7 Pro also has a total of four cameras. A 50MP main camera with PDAF, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 32MP selfie camera. Unlike the main camera of the Realme phone, the 50MP camera of the Reno 7 Pro does not have OIS.

The 50MP rear camera of the Realme 9 Pro+ is better than that of the Reno 7 Pro. It uses the latest Sony IMX766 and it also has the OIS feature. But while the Realme 9 Pro+ has a better rear camera, the Reno 7 Pro has a better front camera. The 32MP selfie camera of the Reno7 Pro is better than the 16MP of the Realme 9 Pro+.

Both phones can shoot videos in 4K resolution with their rear cameras. But, the Realme 9 Pro+ offers better stability with its OIS feature.

Performance | Storage | RAM | 5G

The performance of both phones is very different. This is because the chipset inside both smartphones is very different. The Realme 9 Pro+ features the MediaTek Dimensity 920 5G chip while the chipset inside the OPPo Reno 7 Pro is the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 Max 5G.

The chipset inside the Realme 9 Pro+ is a really good chipset but the chipset inside the Reno 7 Pro is way better. The Dimensity 1200 Max 5G chip inside the Reno 7 Pro has better CPU cores, GPU cores, ISP, and NPU.

Both smartphones have support for 5G network connectivity. The RAM inside the Realme 9 Pro+ is 6/8GB with storage options are 128 and 256GB. The RAM inside the OPPO Reno 7 Pro is 8/12GB with a single storage option of 256GB.

Software

OPPO Reno 7 Pro runs Android 11 out of the box while the Realme 9 Pro+ boots Android 12 out of the box. Both smartphones will get at least two years of major software updates. The Realme 9 Pro+ offers better value for the long term as it’s one software ahead of the Reno 7 Pro.

Battery

Realme 9 Pro+ is powered by a 4,700mAh battery with support for a 60W fast charge. While the OPPO Reno 7 Pro is powered by a 4,500mAh battery with support for a 65W fast charge technology. None of the phones have support for wireless charge.

The battery inside the Realme 9 Pro+ will take you for a longer time and using the 60W fast charge, you can easily charge the battery.

Realme 9 Pro Plus vs OPPO Reno 7 Pro: Price

The price of the OPPO Reno 7 Pro 8 + 256GB storage option is about $699 and the 8 +256GB storage of the Realme 9 Pro+ is priced at $475. The Realme 9 Pro+ is the more affordable device to buy between both phones.

Realme 9 Pro Plus vs OPPO Reno 7 Pro: Verdict

Between the Realme 9 Pro+ and OPPO Reno 7 Pro which is better? Well, allow to me explain the situation here.

The OPPO Reno 7 Pro is the more powerful device with really fast CPU and GPU cores. It also has a slightly bigger and better display for those who prefer big screens. The Reno 7 Pro is no doubt a beast performer thanks to the chipset inside.

But, the Realme 9 Pro+ offers better value for money. It has similar display quality as the Reno 7 Pro, has a very decent chipset, has a better camera with OIS, has the latest software, has a bigger battery, and it’s cheaper. You save money and get and you get good performance with a better camera experience.

If I’m to score both phones, I’ll give the Realme 9 Pro+ (57%) and the OPPO Reno 7 Pro (43%).
