About Tecno Camon 18i

Tecno Camon 18i is the successor to the previously released Camon 17P. It’s the last device released in the Tecno Camon 18 series by Tecno Mobile (the first is the Tecno Camon 18 Premier). This device has 48MP triple rear camera, 6.8-inches FHD+ resolution with 120Hz refresh rate and rocks the all new MediaTek Helio G96 chipset.

So, let’s talk about specifications of the Camon 18i and get to know more about this device. We’ll start from its chipset, CPU, and GPU. Then we’ll talk about its software, camera, RAM, storage, and battery.

Chipset, CPU and GPU

Tecno Camon 18i rocks the MediaTek Helio G96 chip under its helm. This is an gaming SoC manufactured by MediaTek and it has some level of improvements when compared to the Helio G95. With this chipset, you can enjoy up to 90Hz refresh rate.

The chipset has an octa-core CPU clocked at 2.05 GHz that is accompanied by the Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. This chipset does not have support for 5G but somehow, but has support for dual 4G and 120Hz refresh rate.

Cameras

The Camon 18i has triple rear camera setup; a 48MP main camera, a 2MP, and a 13MP portrait. Upfront the phone has an 8MP selfie camera placed in a tiny punch hole at the top left.

Unlike the Premier version that comes with a gimbal camera, the Camon 18i does not have that feature. There is also no periscope lens inside this device. Also, the Camon 18 Premier can record up to 4K videos while this device can only record up to 2K videos.

Truth is, there is a huge camera difference between this smartphone and the premier version. But, this device is more affordable and also gives you a nice user experience as you’d get with the other models of the Camon 18.

Display and Build

The Tecno Camon 18i has a 6.6-inch display, FHD+ resolution with 90Hz refresh rate and up to 700 nits of brightness. It has small bezels and there is a tiny punch hole placed at the middle.

Its build material is glass front, plastic back and plastic frame. The phone is not water and dust resistant so keep away from water and dust.

As for durability, the front is Gorilla glass and the plastic frame is also very tough. But using a protective case and glass will increase the durability of the device.

RAM, Storage and Battery

Tecno Camon 18i comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It also has space for storage expansion via microSD card.

The phone is powered by a non-removable 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charge technology. Charging the battery from 0 to 60% will take about 55 minutes.

Software and Connectivity

Tecno Camon 18i runs HiOS 8 software based on Android 11. There is no software update roadmap from Tecno but we hope this device gets a new Android OS update.
